Bravo to the ink and your review style (realistic use and application of the ink--no splash)! It's a great contrast to Mew's review which implements a fine (yet wet) nib.

I love the color... but I feel I have several other inks that are extremely similar...

Thanks for the review..

Would someone be able to direct me to a retailer?

No one "retails" these inks in US, but there are some Japanese resellers for same. A man who sells on EBAY, under "21tgif" whose name is Atsu, (also sells under another Ebay site, the KOBE inks,) has a bottle of the OLD BURGUNDY for sale now on Ebay @ the "21tgif" site. It ends on Friday, October 14 @ 9:29 PM (PDT). He is also sometimes able to sell you the inks directly, you can always email him (using either of his Ebay sites for contact information, to inquire.)

Good luck, it is a beautiful ink.

Great review, much better than what I did with the ink. :)

Now can you compare it with sweet potato purple?

Here you go, Mew.

They look quite close on Tomoe River, but completely different on Graphilo. Go figure.

I expected Sweet Potato to look more purple (like how it looks in graphilo)... Quite shocked to see them soo similar in Tomoe.

Too much trouble for a ink that is similar to other burgundy inks..

Nothing to dream about, in my opinion..

I completely respect that position, obviously. But I know that for me, the color is only one aspect of what makes an ink desirable; the writing experience—not just flow or lubrication, but the overall 'feel' of an ink—is just as important, and of all the brands I've tried, Sailor inks have an intangible something that I find in no other ink (aside perhaps from KWZ). But the beauty of this hobby right now is that with the sheer variety of inks currently on offer, we can both have our druthers. :)

Yep, now it looks a lot more like the colour I get when I write with it. Sweet potato purple is nice. :) I should start using it.

Thank you. :)

I find there to be enough difference between the two to enjoy using both. It's like people saying Rikyu-cha & Cigar are exactly the same. I completely disagree - each has a different balance of green & brown on the page, and they feel different in use.
