Kwz Ink Monarch

Monarch is a special edition for the pen store Fontoplumo. Frankly I'm slightly disappointed by the colour, because I expect it'd be much more vibrant. But it turns out to be a darkish and subdued kind of orange. Still it's a lovely colour.

(My pen is a very wet vintage Waterman, so it's darker. I expect a slightly lighter colour in a normal flow pen.)

(In the last pic it should be green #5)

It looks very different in the two pens we have it in at the moment. Brighter but still with good shading, showing light & dark areas. Like a true burnt orange. Your pen must indeed be a very wet writer.

I used Monarch in a drier pen this time. As you can see it's much lighter, but still by no means vibrant.

It's definitely not a vibrant orange. As I said previously I call it burnt orange - or maybe light rust.

Here's mine:

Hmmm. Surprising. The one I received from Konrad is much more vibrant and I guess they all come from one batch. I'm on holidays nie but once I come back I'll fill few more pens with it to check the results.

I am not totally shocked... the original posted pic (can't remember who posted it) made it look almost neon orange. I remember thinking the pic was color-enhanced. Vis made it look vibrant.. but not at the same level (swatch card is similar to the one from Lgsoltek) ...

Overall.. I like this color better. I have a bottle on the way.... I hope is like this, a more brown orange. ;)

Thanks for the review...

Interesting that there is some colour discrepancy. I'm not moved yet to pursue a bottle! Vis' review did capture my attention, but the appearance of the ink in this review, as well as migo's picture, made me think twice

I'd love a bottle of this, but I can't justify 25 Euro shipping for a single bottle.

But something else as well, then the shipping will feel less painful... ;)

LOVE this color. Perfection in a bottle. And yes, for some inexplicable reason, I decided to adopt the Germanic spelling of the word. [Occasionally now, my hands follow impulses that are disconnected from my brain... ;) )

Many thanks to barkingpig for the sample:

Has anyone put this against Grapefruit?

Nowhere near close.... From LG's review... https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/313423-kwz-ink-grapefruit/

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
