Kwz Ink Thief's Red

Really an amazing looking red. Thanks, everyone, for all the shots and comments. Looks like something I'll want to get.

One thing I often do with reds is mix up a red/black concoction. I love that. Anyone tampered with this adding a little black? It's so deep appearing already, but ...

Try IG Red #1 and see if it does it for you.

Does it have the KWZ ink smell like KWZ honey? The color of this ink is gorgeous, but the scent of KWZ Honey is an affront to my senses, and it would not be worth putting up with to get this ink.

Not as strong. I heard a rumor they now have a vanilla aroma because of complaints. You might want to ask your seller of choice. It doesn't bother me, so I haven't pursued it any farther.

But I'm afraid of iron gall. But I guess the time has come ... thanks

(But Ghost Plane, did you mean IG RED #3? Poked around and found no #1 so figured plain IG Red. But swabs I see are a bit pastel and grayiah. What I see of #3 is darkity-dark red. Just clarifying.)(Then again, was looking at Vanness swabs and, looking again, Red and #3 both look pale whereas the actual swab on the labels seem much darker on both. So ...)

They're all good. I haven't had a bad KWZ color yet in the iron galls. Don't be afraid of iron gall. Just don't leave it caked in your pen tossed in a drawer and forgotten. The swabs are darker because it magically turns dark before your very eyes. Bright reds turn to black with red highlights in the time it takes you to write a few lines. If you're going to sit and think, cap your pen.

Hi :) I wouldn't recommend mixing it with black ;) If you like dark reds how about KWZ Maroon? This is the darkest red of our Standard range. Alternatively there will be no harm for inks if you mix the same type of KWZi ;)

As for IG - IG Red #1 is more dusty-greyish, IG Red #3 is more dark red, so the later might seem nicer for you. Before oxidation they are both the same bright reds ;)

That's true :) We introduced Honey of a more neutral smell in September :) It is funny as it seems that some customers are missing that a lot now! ;)

I have long forgotten what my early bottle of Honey smelled like... I don't think I even noticed any smell...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
