Silky Purple - Platinum Mix Free Ink

Platinum doesn't offer huge variety of inks. Of course, there's their Mix Free ink set that allows you, in theory, to create almost infinite number of colors. Not everyone likes mixing though. I don't. I've received sample of this ink so I would like to write few words about it.

Silky Violet isn't something I would call Purple- it's closer to magenta. The ink behaves well and offers con

sistent flow. I haven't observed any feathering or bleedthrough. If you enjoy such colors, go ahead, it's well engineered ink.

Thank you, I think, if my eyeballs adjust to normal, for your always appreciated reviews.

I think, "Someone better call Ms Amber," if ever there was an ink "that has her name on it," THIS should be it! I am not sure this ink should not require a license or warning for use. WOWSER!

I think Amberlea may already have this one :-)

Platinum call these 'Mixable' now I believe, as well as Mix Free. I really like them & have had success mixing a range of bespoke, sometimes oddball, colours.

I get masses of sheen from this one when used straight, and the Aurora Blue too.

Thanks for the review. I almost got this ink a few years ago -- there was a deal at isellpens.com where you could get a free bottle of Mix-free in your choice of color when buying a Noodler's Konrad (apparently Todd had an overstock of the ink, IIRC). Only at the last minute I picked Flame Red because I didn't have any red ink in my stash. Big mistake. :( Flame Red is a HORRIBLE color (reminded me of Mercurochrome from when I was a kid and had scraped knees). I ended up giving it away to someone, who then gave it away to someone else....

Agree that it's not really what I would call purple -- it reminds me somewhat of the LE Noodler's ink King Philip's Requiem (mostly only available at last year's Commonwealth Pen Show). I'm not wild about the color of KPR either, but I bought it to stick in my King Philip's Purple FPC (and of course to get the free Charlie pen that came with... B)).

Oddly, the written sample on the Goulet Pens website does look a bit more purple than this....

Yes, it screams her name :)

It is surely another variant of a system of alert (child abduction alert system) we call in the US, AMBER ALERT!

Definitely an ink for Amber. I like it too.

I love you guys! Thank you for thinking of me. I had forgotten that I bought these from Partridge Pen when they went out of business. Based on Migo's suggestion, I'm inking them up for the 366 inks. I only had samples, but since all my Inky Friends know that "well engineered" retina searing colors are made for me, I'm inking the kool-aid. xoxoxo

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

OH MY, Look what Altec Green created. I see mixing in my future. (and maybe I don't see blindness since my retinas will be seared).
