Hello From Canada!

Hi all!

I have been browsing FPN for quite a while before I finally made an account today. I'm from Canada and have been interested in fountain pens ever since seeing my doctor use one when I was a wee child. I finally decided to jump right into it a few years ago and got a TWSBI Diamond 580 1.1 mm stub to improve my handwriting. The addiction started soon after that as I started exploring different nib types and ink. I love blue and green spectrum inks! As well, I have had a recent obsession with iron gall and document inks. ESSRI in a Lamy 2000 (medium) has become my mainstay EDC pen/ink combo at this point.

Anyways I figure this is a good place to start things off and thanks for the (hopefully not too boring) read through!

Best,

sleepy

Welcome aboard!!!

I didn't find much at the doc's office that led to a lifetime of enjoyment, maybe a FP would have helped.

Good start to your collection.

Inks are fun, newbie. Welcome. Try PR Blue Suede and J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor if you like blue/greens. Eau de Nile by Diamine is interesting.

I've tried Emerald of Chivor. Absolutely love the color but I find it smudges (I'm left handed unfortunately) :(

I'll check out the other two, thanks!

Hahaha fair enough. This was one quirky and memorable doctor though! He used Waterman florida/serentiy blue. This man treated his pen so carefully you just new it was something special. Thanks for the shoutout!

Welcome !

I always seek vivid color inks for my TWSBI. I like the way the light shines through the ink in the transparent barrel.

That's what drew me to demonstrators first. I used to love watching the ink in a uniball vision slosh back and forth in the ink window in grade school (I was just a little distracatable :)). Also I have that bird toy in your avatar! it was one of the early "repeat-back" toys that would play back audio it picked up in a high-pitched birdish voice. I think the colour scheme on mine is different but it's definitely from the same manufacturer.
