Just curious about the polycast resin, why exactly do you find the material brittle?

If it falls from height than I beleive there will be chipping of the material that might happen ... which is the nature of material...

Both are Schmidt nibs, the Rosewood has a smaller nib, FH342 IIRC. while the Sandalwood has one size larger nib, of which unfortunately I cannot remember the number...

Both of them are F. When I first got the Rosewood, it had a gold tone M Schmidt nib, which I did not like so much, so I requested a nib change. As you can see the current nib is the same silver color as the cap ring which is the only ornament on the pen. Visually, I think this pen is stunning, and its looks are indeed more arresting than the Sandalwood...

But, the Sandalwood, made of that special fragrant wood, has another quality: not only does it have a subtle fragrance, but this lingers on your hands for a few minutes after putting the pen down... And also, it is an interesting visual object because the color is continually changing because of my use of the pen.

As to how they write, both are a pleasure to use, and I note I alternate between preferring the larger nib and section on the Sandalwood, to the smaller section and nib on the Rosewood. The Sandalwood sometimes feels a little burly, if you know what I mean. Like a country bumpkin, almost. But the Rosewood has a very sharp step between section and barrel which is sometimes a little too noticeable. It's very nice to learn that that is something that could be avoided in the resin version (or at least I assume so, from your story).

I will be thinking about a new Islander. I like the fact that yours does not have the metal insides that the Rosewood has. And the transition is not so sharp. But you seem to have kept the seamless transition between barrel and cap, which I like in the Rosewood, although it does mean the step between section and barrel is unavoidable. But maybe with the resin, a little less pronounced than in the Rosewood? Here I go again...

Probably you can have the rounded edges at the junction of barrel and cap...

so the step down on your new pen doesn't hamper your writing...

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
