Twilight Blue - Montblanc

A limited edition ink named Twilight Blue was released by Montblanc in june as part of the new Blue Hour Collection. Basically I'm not really keen on LE inks because when they're good and nice and they're gone, they're gone for good. Literally. No more Racing Green. No more Leonardo da Vinci Red Chalk. No more Jonathan Swift Seaweed Green.

Montblanc is good at creating hype :)

A friend of mine's allowed me to play with his bottle of Twilight Hour. And after trying it in three pens I must say it's huge disappointment. First I dislike the color, but it's just me. I know there's a lot of people who are fond on such hues. But the ink is also dry, shading is rather boring (unless you use OBB or Pilot Parallel 6 mm nib) and it has no waterproofness. You'll easily fibnd better teals and unless you collect MB LE inks, I don't think this one is really worth the price and the place on the shelf. I find it uninteresting and mediocre.

Hmm. I've seen pictures in which it looks bluer (and more attractive), to the point where I was thinking of trying to get hold of some, but I don't find the shade in your pictures appealing at all. Thanks for the review, as always!

Thanks for the tip. It's not my cup of tea (the colour itself) but I'll buy it anyhow, just because it is a MB LE.

I think it looks fabulous, but, since it will be gone, I don't think I want to get hooked.

Thanks for the review. I like blue-grey shades of ink but this one is kind of boring. Seems bland compared to other MB Limited Edition Inks.

This looks nothing like the blue I fell in love with... picture below (from Gourmet.Pens).. I can see the teal, but there is more blue on the sample below.

Yes, I've seen this review. However the ink I've found in the bottle is nowhere near as interesting. That's why I call it a huge disappouintment. On the other hand I wouldn't like it even if the color was similar to the one presented in Azizah's review. Not my type of color :)

Thanks for the review. That does have more teal than I was expecting. I will purchases a bottle or two and put it into one of my wetter pens. It will probably be darker.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

I just tried scanning it written on tomoe river paper and it looks a lot more teal than a picture, it's cream tomoe river paper to give you an idea.

I think with a wet pen it'll look more like gourmet pens picture

Reminds me of Quink BB. Nice bottle though!

I fell in love with the color in Azizah's review too and ordered two bottles. Not here yet so haven't had a chance to try it. Thanks for the review.

This is actually a very nice blue imho. Its close to Tsuki-yo, but a tad bit greener, but not as green as kujaku. I love the way this ink behaves even in my finer nibbed pens. I will buy another bottle for sure. The only disappointing one recently I've tried is MB JFK which is a horrible cheap looking blue.

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
