The pen has been announced in the MB official website, but the picture seems not able to show the characteristic of body of this WE. Hopefully below photo can give some ideas on how it looks :)

Is this is an actual pic of the real pen?

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

Yes, but it is a bit blur due to the focus of photo is not on this pen. My attention is the 1868 version which I took several photos. But it is not appropriate to post them before MB announces it.

Looks beautiful. As usual, I prefer to see the pen with my hands before forming a strong opinion.

 

The detail of the finish ups the interesting factor.

honnestly, was expecting tolstoi as it's an author i love...I love WE and was really expecting that pen...And I find it to be the ugliest of all WE for now :(

A people can be great withouth a great pen but a people who love great pens is surely a great people too...

9000 piece for FP LE is this lower than previous years?

 

I think so - AFAIK, the number is usually between 10-20K.

I saw the Tolstoy today at the boutiques I visited. I am not a fan of the pen - too much going on and the color scheme is weird. The new LE ink matches the tail end (piston) of the barrel.

 

I did also see a blue hour skeleton in person and now that pen has moved up on my short list...

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

The pen is a winner from the released teaser pictures, but that sky blue knob is the true unknown. I wish it werent that color, but perhaps in person, it will look different.

In order to appreciate the sweet, you must truly taste the bitter....

This is the only picture I have which shows the whole 2015 WE Tolstoy. It was cropped from a group photo and the focus was not on this pen. Therefore it is a bit blur but yet you can still see the colour of the knob.

Limited Edition 1868: With a limitation number based on the year of the first Edition of “War and Peace”, his most famous book, the design of the Limited Edition 1868 is reminiscent of both the simple life Tolstoy favored particularly towards the end of his life, and his aristocratic origins as a count. The gold plated barrel with its hammered optic to celebrate the work he did by hand on his land is elegantly paired with a blue lacquered cap. The guilloche underneath the cap evokes the aristocracy in Imperial Russia, a reoccurring theme in his novels including “Anna Karenina” and “War and Peace”.
The wooden cone tells the story of his beloved estate, Yasnaya Polyana, home to many century-old trees among which Tolstoy chose to be buried. A malachite adorns the end of the cone as a reference to the legend of the green stick. When Leo was a small boy, his brother Nikolai told him that he possessed a secret that could make all men happy and end war and suffering. The secret was said to be written on a green stick and buried in the grounds of Yasnaya Polyana. This story stayed with Tolstoy throughout his life, and in his old age he requested that his body be buried in a simple wooden coffin at the presumed site of the little green stick. The signature that adorns the forepart and his portrait embossed in the rhodium-plated 750 solid gold nib reinforce his enduring legacy, and his impact on human civilization through his monumental works.
The Writers Edition Leo Tolstoy is only available in a strictly limited edition in Montblanc boutiques worldwide from August 1, 2015.

Wow! The 1868 version is super flashy, but it all works together very nicely. I like the blind cap far more than on the regular WE edition.

The POA has the 4810 and 888 versions. Don't know whether MB is going to start their special version for WE :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I'm really digging the nib design. Seems a lot nicer than the bearded man of the 1868 version IMHO.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
