Jinhao 886 - The Bullet Pen

Thanks. I pulled the nib and feed and ran a thin brass sheet between the tines. So far looks like that did it. It writes smoothly with good ink flow and no hard starting or skipping.

its friction fit....also i blv it is glued... u have to apply a bit of pressure to pull out.... Dont worry.... pull it out...

 

It does not seem glued - but the sleeves are very tight.

The BPs look awesome. The refill looks similar to Parker BP refills. That would make great BPs

Mine had glue signs at two sides... in both models... which offered little resistance when i pulled those out...

You get the brilliant Platinum Plasair which looks very similar, for around $10. Far more durable and the 0.3 is a great writer.

I don't use BP's at all, however my wife & eldest daughter do.

Genuine Parker re-fills are the only ones that have exploded inside their pens...

My red 886 dries out very quickly...overnight. Dipping in water does restore it to writing, but that's a pain. Has anyone else had this problem. Could it be the Shaffer red ink?

 

All ideas welcome.

Sheaffer inks are dark .... my Indian inks never dry out overnight....

do u have access to Indian inks... like camlin or chelpark or bril

I really like Jinhao, and I really can't explain why. I have some very expensive pens from some very well reputed makers, as I'm sure most people do, but I feel most comfortable (secure?) carrying the Jinhao. Most of the time I like to carry a pen in my shirt pocket, and I have some pens I am afraid of doing so. Jinhao's low cost and high durability ease me of the worry. And I find them, for the most part, to be fine writers.

 

Can anyone give the dimensions (length, width, weight) of this pen, or at least what it compares to in size?

Nope, no Indian ink, but I'll try another ink and see how it does.

My green 886 has the same issue, and I've tried it with a couple of inks--one from Montegrappa and one from Diamine. I suspect it's just a badly fitting cap or something.

I suspect that the leak maybe at the clip mount. The threads seem quite tight. I may try to put a drop of glue on it inside the cap, or I may just toss it.

Yeah, the threads do seem tight, but when the cap is screwed all the way on, it always seems like it's at a bit of an angle.

 

Anyway, please report back on whether the glue thing works--these are fun pens to write with, and I'd love to not have to worry about them drying out.
