Need Info On Parker 21 Desk Set

So I found this parker 21 desk set at an antique shop, and picked it up for $12. It had a lot of dried up blue ink (guessing it's parker superchrome) which I have been cleaning. I am wondering if there is any information about the desk set itself. The lady at the antique store dated it back to the 1940s which seems plausible. The rotary drum clock has a us patent no of 2335863. After looking that up it shows that the clock was invented by Edward Kottle in 1943, but there is no mention of it being licensed to be used for a desk pen set. If anyone has any information about this please share. Any information will be appreciated.

If I remember clearly Parker introduced the "21" desk pen in

the early 1950's. The desk base in your photograph would have

been for a more upscale Parker pen..although..the marriage

of the two is looking really nice.................................

The antique dealer's intent was good...You did well...............

Research on the parker 21 shows it was first introduced in 1948. I really want to learn more about the desk set, when it was made, how much it was sold for etc.

When was the Parker "21" desk pen introduced? Early 1950's

Not the fountain pen..which was introduced in 1948.

If you have any information to contradict "Desk Pen" being

introduced in early 1950's...please give citation{s}...

Re: Pen Base....looks like a Magic Wand pen base for a Parker "51"....

with a perpetual calendar....If you want specific information...re

material..pricing.........you will need a period catalog...perhaps

someone reading this will provide.............................................

That is a really nice base on that. Regardless of whether it goes with a 21 or a 51...

Currently on eBay a double pen desk set with the same style base and calendar is offered with two Parker 21 pens. This may not be conclusive, but it suggests that you pen and base are not a marriage.

That's really interesting. So what you're suggesting is this base may actually be for a Parker 21. Is there any other information out there? Like when this base was made etc.

Thanks... I was very happy with this find. I figure no matter what it is, you can't go wrong for $12.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
