And my favorite work pen too. (The 45, 14k F nib.)

PHOTO_20140916_134409.jpg

It went missing for about 3 hours this afternoon.

Close enough to lost for me to turn my world upside down shake it and already start looking on The Bay for a replacement.

Close enough for me to have cleaned out another work pen to sit in until I could get another F nib 45.

:(

Last time it was seen was last evening, clipped to a t-shirt pocket.

I went to the car for something and Something said, look under your seat. (Thank You Lord!) and I'll be, my fingers

landed right on top of it.

Woot!

Oh Happy Day!

That's the worst when that happens. Reminds me of the time I lost my cartridge 51 in a parking lot. Which got run over. :wallbash:

Granted, I did later fix it. It looked like nothing ever happened to it, minus some wear marks on the parts I used to fix it up. And it gaining an aerometric barrel.

...And maybe suddenly changing color from navy grey to burgundy.

Calculating.

I lost my first "good" pen, a Parker Vector, in my house for the better part of a year, then found it while looking for something else. Fortunately it had just been flushed.

And a couple of weeks ago I lost not one but *two* Noodler's pens: the Konrad I was pretty sure was in the house, but the FPC was annoying because it had Whaleman's Sepia in it and I was trying to decide if I liked the ink. Found that pen between the passanger's seat and the car door -- it somehow had fallen out of my purse; the Konrad turned out to be under my chair, and I found it while cleaning up some paperwork that the cat had knocked off it.

The worst was the Morrison overlay ringtop -- it has a tendency to unscrew itself from the cap while I have it on the lanyard I made for it. Almost lost the business end 3 times in the space of two days -- once on a cement garage floor. Fortunately it didn't (apparently) land nib down any of those times, but the third time was *complete* panic mode (it's one of my more expensive pens) because I searched my house and my car, and then went back to the grocery store I had *just* been to, and searched the floor and parking lot. Found it when I searched the car one last time -- it had unscrewed itself (yet again) and had fallen down between the driver's seat and the console. The worst part was thinking I'd have to explain to my husband how I'd lost an *expensive* pen....

It's a horrible feeling. Even misplacing the Vector was a horrible feeling. So happy it turned out happily for you, Bruce.

I am very happy that you were able to find your pen. It is one of my fears. I lost one at the grocery store about a year ago and feared it was gone for good. Luckily the second time I checked back the responded that they found it and recognized it was something of value and stored in their vault.

Very pleased you found it. I recently left behind a Lamy Safari charcoal pen at a post office. It hurt a bit. However, it was bought to use in unfamiliar places and was easy to replace.

Story ended happily :)

I still haven't had the displeasure of losing a pen yet. (Here's hoping it'll be a very long time before I do...)

I NEVER lose things. I temporarily MISPLACE things.

Misplaced a $5 ballpoint that I really like and found it out on the turn around in front of the house a few hours later. Misplaced a watch somewhere in the house and I've been looking for it off-and-on for a few months now. I'm not worried because I know it's here somewhere and that I'll eventually find it.

I know that if I buy a new watch that a few hours after I get home with it I'll find the misplaced watch. Never fails!

Anyway, glad you found your pen. It's a nice looking pen!

Glad it turned up. I'm sure you have enough fuel for your karma that one could be found in case of emergency. Personally I find 45s too thin, but you've definitely fed the fire of my Estie addiction, so I'd bet somewhere around here I may have your "spare". Be glad it wasn't a J-51-Balance-120/140 Pel or some other pen I love, then I could only commiserate.

I remember a roommate borrowed my imperial 440 without bothering to tell me. I was frantic. He himself came back to me saying ,"This pen of urs is too scratchy.". This pen had a horrible nib to begin with and I polished it myself, so I knew it's sweet spot, A little discussion and demo later he was intrigued and then interested.

So he got a camlin elegante and free rule to use my inks. :) And a polite warning to not to touch my pens without asking me.

I just did this a few days ago. My Taccia Portuguese FP and little Taccia Mini Saturn BP, which always buddy together in a Kaweco 2-pen pouch, had disappeared. I bribed various family members to find it, but everyone came up empty handed. So it's now midnight, and I keep thinking the pouch has to be somewhere in the house. I grab a flashlight and pat down the interior of the car, the couches, the jackets...still nothing. I mope my way to the bed when a little flash of light strikes my brain. The bedside trashcan! That my husband just emptied! And it's still sitting by the garage door. I hopped out of bed, gingerly searched the contents of the trashbag, and sure enough, found the pouch. My husband told me the next day that he had almost chucked the trashbag into the temporary dumpster the city had placed on our street for fall clean-up. I will never fault him again for being slow to take out the trash.

Glad you found your pen, Bruce! All that panic paid off. :)

Glad you found it, Bruce. A couple of years ago I 'misplaced' two pens, both Pelikans. An M1000 and an M800. Yes, two of the most prized birds in my flock. I thought that I recalled having them at work one day and the only logical explanation was that someone had taken them. I was sick and heartbroken. I looked endlessly for a long time to no avail. Eventually I chalked it up as one of my biggest mistakes, to have taken them to work in the first place. I know most of you know how much these two pens cost, I bought them new. A couple of years later I was at my sons house and he said Dad, I'm going to return those two pens you gave me, they're out of ink and I can't write with them too well anyway. I had given him some fountain pens in the past, but nothing expensive, just some to get him started liking fountain pens. I said, OK, son what two pens was that, it had been so long I didn't remember. He handed me a pouch, I opened it and looked inside and there they were. My two beautiful, majestic birds. How did you get this, I asked. You gave it to me, don't you remember? I must have put two pens in a pouch to give him and gave him the wrong pouch. What a wonderful day that was! Now my two gorgeous avian beauties are safe at home again, where they'll stay.

I once thought I had lost a Sailor 1911 Sterling Silver - found it about two hours later on my desk. The experience made me realize that my ownership of all things is transient, and that I should keep my desk tidy.

My Kaweco unclipped itself and spent two nights on my front drive amongst the autumn leaves and rain a couple of years ago. Tough little thing.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
