Montblanc Classique Clip Engraving

Mister Mont Blanc

Recommended Posts

Hi there everybody. I really hate to create a whole new topic just for this question but I am on an expedited quest to get a Montblanc pencil ASAP as school is starting in less than one week. I found a great deal on an old Bordeaux model but I noticed a faint engraving on the bottom of the clip that appears to say "frontier" maybe...? I thought I've seen this before so I'm wondering if it is a different brand's clip or some sort of personalized clip engraving someone had done...? The pencil is listed as "new in box."

Thank you so very much for any help!!

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

When I used to give Mont Blanc pens and pencils as mementos we would have the person's initials engraved on the clip. Perhaps this was ordered that way and never picked up.

If it bothers you, you could call MB and ask them about changing the clip.

Having the clip engraved does not bother me if it is an authentic pencil. What bothers me is not knowing whether that is a post-purchase engraving or the sign of a counterfeit clip. I didn't think Montblanc did engravings anywhere on the clip and "frontier" sounds like a brand possibly.

Corporate clients would often have their logo engraved on the barrel for corporate gifts. One can still find vintage MBs with corporate logos, AEG is one example I have seen several times. I have not seen this on a clip before but it is possible.

That or try to get people to start calling you by your new nickname: Frontier

Montblanc does engravings on clips on request. I bought my Tribute new, from a reputable online store, and requested my initials to be engraved. They sent it to Montblanc for that.

Well it looks like someone else got the steal on the pencil, assuming it was authentic. I just couldn't pull the trigger since I have a faint memory of seeing that same word "frontier" in that same exact font somewhere else. I also never heard back from the seller when I messaged them. Well at least I hope this helps others down the road and thank you all for your responses. I think I'll be getting the other pencil with the only engravings being "Germany" and a serial number :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
