My samples of Purple inks are coming in, but let's proceed on to my goal to collect the rainbow.

So how about blues? I don't like blues with hints of purple. I need something like a royal blue.

I will be using Claifontaine tablets. I may use an italic nib/medium, so shading is a bonus.

Thanks!!!

Browse thru the samples on the Goulet web site.

But be aware that most monitors are not color calibrated, and it is very unlikely that Brian has a color calibrated photo setup. So there is some amount of color variation that the sample is subject to. But a simple reference is the paper he is writing on, it should be WHITE. If you see a color cast on the white paper, then your monitor will not display the ink color correctly.

I've been loving Noodler's Liberty Elysium lately. A true blue that writes really well. Exclusive at Goulet's.

The brightness of a blue is probably due to the presents of a yellow or purple. I think the quiet eloquence of

Private Reserve's DC Supershow Blue is a pure blue.

Noodler's Luxury Blue has some decent shadying (with my medium point Shaeffer Legacy) and is a nice blue, but not eye-grabbing electric blue like the Bay State Blue. Their Upper Ganges Blue is also nice without any violet/purple.

Baystate Blue has a bit too much red in it for my likes - but I know others adore it.

Mr Pen's (Diamine + secret ingredient) Radiant Blue? Diamine Presidential Blue?

DA Royal Blue is tinged towards purple.

I always thought that purple was the color associated with royalty, hence most Royal Blues contain a certain amount. I have MB Royal Blue cartridges that definitely have some purple in the mix. Noodler's Blue is a great blue to me. Some of the Levenger blues are nice, too.

Baystate blue has a twinge of purple to it. It's a fun ink, but it's pretty mean, too. I have a steel nib I'd swear was stained with it (but it might just be my imagination)
