Hi,

just wanted to share my enthusiasm with you guys for my most recent purchase: the Visconti Blue Ripple (palladium 23kt Fine nib), 252/999.

It had grown on me in quite long time and it had become a grail pen.

Since this morning it has barely left my hands (you know, just the time to eat and a couple of bio breaks :D )!

I took a couple of very quick shots, I'll soon work on a detailed review ... in the meantime:

Quite out of focus but this one shows its real color.

Yeah, I was aware of your Ripple addiction (I don't post much but I lurk quite a lot ;) ) and I have to say you might have had a part in this :)

 

By the way, it has a 18kt gold nib, I was wrong in the original post. I was so convinced it was palladium I hadn't bothered checking, but after writing a bit and a quick look at the nib... well :doh:

18k are right for original manufacture of these. Pd tend to be aftermarket add ins by authorized dealers who have Pd nibs.

A truly gorgeous pen and your photos show the wonderful cracked white quartz effect.

It must hold a lot of ink too.

Haha that's recognisable, GP also got me interested in Ripples!

I think GP has one of the most extended collections containing all colours :lol:

I remember once reading where G.P. confessed to having an "obscene number" of Visconti's. I remain worshipful and jealous at the same time. ;-p. Gorgeous sampling there...

Carbon I ended up selling to fund something else as the weight wasn't right. Pretty with contrasting inks. The rest...money & pen never came together...

 

This body size, nib, weight & ink capacity is simply perfection for my use. And these are users, as the white feeds in some will clearly show if I ever have access to a better camera.

Just a small update to thank you all for sharing (and understanding :) ) my enthusiasm. The pen rarely leaves my hands, I cannot stop staring at it.

I'm enjoying the nib very much: telling in advance what I'll describe in the review, I am enjoying the nib. The "fine" line is actually fine (I expected a wider line although I had hoped for a finer one, like this :) ).

It is the most hefty pen I own, it somehow dwarves the others I have but still feels very comfortable!

 

@GP: I'm not sure whether to feel scared or amazed by your collection. In the doubt, I will feel just both :) Congratulations, really. Let me dare to ask what a pen lover should never ask another pen lover: which one do you like the most?

The nibs run from B to 2B to stubs & the black & silver Romanica on the far left has an M so perfect I could never bring myself to swap it even though M is too narrow for me. So let's just say this row of pens are forever friends barring some emergency & leave it at that.

where is the best place to purchase a ripple? bry doesn't seem to have any at the moment

Saw one on the Bay recently, either Pens.Plus or Italian Pens. You might have a look at zvipens as well. They're getting scarce.

Thanks Ghost I am going to order a stub if I can find one, if not I will just go for a broad. I love my Visconti's and that is a very high recommendation :P

 

edit: I have placed an order with italianpens on ebay for a broad nibbed blue and white ripple! can't wait.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
