Help Me Identify This Stainless Steel 'annual Edition'

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I hope you're having an excellent week. I've just acquired a stainless steel Mont Blanc Fountain Pen, which I think is one of the 'Annual Edition' versions. I've searched online but can't find any details, here are the images...

I think it's now been established as a fake so I've removed the images in case the seller takes issue.

Any help would be much appreciated. It's a birthday present for my dad, so it would be useful to give him as much info as possible. I've somehow resisted the urge to include it in my collection!

Kind regards,

Roy

There is no easy way to say this and bearing in mind I am not familiar with this range of MBs.

I think it is a fake.

The nib looks as if it is laser engraved.

The rim of the cap is black.

The box looks cheap.

I hope I am wrong.

You don't know what you need until you realise you haven't got it.

Thanks for your input - that would be annoying if so, the seller seemed to well regarded. But if it proves to be the case, then I'll get in touch with them.

That's definitely a fake.

No doubt about that ...

I have to laugh when I see this, the fakers are now even making up their own SE's.... :lticaptd:

I always thought MB's Annual edition were made of Meissen's porcelain....

Sorry for you that it is a fake if you bought it. :(

It is so scandalous that people are making fake pens. It's why i don't buy from the internet,i'm too afraid of it. Happily i got a dealer near of where i live that i go see each week for the whole afternoon(we've became friends by talking about pens) and that i can trust but not anybody got this chance and lot of us are obliged to go by the internet and risk to fall on such people

I remember when i first looked after mb's off course it was the 146 that interested me the most(i've too small hands for a 149) and i've found a site on the first page of google's suggestions wich was nammed:"AUTENTHIC MONTBLANC CHEAP" they were sold 2.5$ looked awfull and the "gold" plating was absolutely mate...no comment! :D

A people can be great withouth a great pen but a people who love great pens is surely a great people too...

Pens owned actually: MB 146 EF;Pelikan M200 SE Clear Demonstrator 2012 B;Parker 17 EF;Parker 51 EF;Waterman Expert II M,Waterman Hemisphere M;Waterman Carene F and Stub;Pilot Justus 95 F.

Nearly owned: MB 149 B(Circa 2002);Conway Stewart Belliver LE bracket Brown IB.

I hope the OP did not pay too much money for their pen and is able to get a full refund.

Picking up on a point in the previous post...

I don't think buying from the internet is the issue. What I can't understand is why people buy things (be it pens or something else) and then only after handing over their money start the researching the item. We have countless number of threads with people doing the same thing. There are plenty of pictures and literature on MB pens, I'm not saying research will guarantee never buying a fake but if you spend some time researching your purchase you can reduce the chances of an issue.

My Collection: Montblanc Writers Edition: Hemingway, Christie, Wilde, Voltaire, Dumas, Dostoevsky, Poe, Proust, Schiller, Dickens, Fitzgerald (set), Verne, Kafka, Cervantes, Woolf, Faulkner, Shaw, Mann, Twain, Collodi, Swift, Balzac, Defoe, Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Saint-Exupery, Homer & Kipling. Montblanc Einstein (3,000) FP. Montblanc Heritage 1912 Resin FP. Montblanc Starwalker Resin: FP/BP/MP. Montblanc Traveller FP.

Definitely agree 100% with this!

Whenever I want something, the first thing I do is check the details of the item on various pictures from various sources. When one would be interested in this pen, and another picture couldn't easily be found, that should be a big concern.

Then I start doing some research on pricing as well; when something, or items in some category cost a $1000 for example, and someone offers one for $45 at a 'buy it now' type of situation, that should be a big concern. (the very rare extremely good deal left out that is).

I'm very sorry to read this TS, and mean no disrespect, as I can understand some people wouldn't even think about fakes being made. (not everyone has pens as a hobby)

Hope you get things sorted out with the seller :)

Hello All,

All sorted with the seller and refunded. It was one of those ones, where I just didn't think enough about it - I'd spotted it online and simply bought it. Normally I'm fastidious when it comes to researching things... so this will teach me to carry on doing this, rather than simply flicking through my phone and buying shiny things!

To cheer me up, I bought an early 90's 149 this morning... and don't worry it was from a reputable second hand Mont Blanc seller, with a physical shop and I've bought from them several times before.

Have a brilliant weekend.

Kind regards,

Roy

It seems I arrived here too late to see the pics. If you took your own pictures when you received the pen then the seller can't say anything at all about that.

I agree that you should do all research before parting with any money. Still at least the ebay buyer protection is always there for when there is a problem after a purchase

Good for you, Roy! I am glad you could get your money back, as well as an opportunity to snag a 149. ;)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
