Horrible Experience With Engeika Shop

For the Izumo lines, it is around JPY 41,000 to 42,000 in the normal e-market in Japan. That is around US400 for the current exchange rate. So, that price is nothing special. Engeika is also in the same bind as the other e-retailers in this competitive price-driving e-commerce market.

I would appreciate if you would name a site for that.

Even to Japanese Rakuten I did not find less than $400. Ebay is more expensive ofcourse.

Could you please name a site of the "normal e-market in Japan" ?

Still missing the "White Stripe" MYU and black brother MYU with transparent section!

(Has somebody a "Murex" with a working clock?

(Thanks to Steve I found the "Black Stripe Capless" and the "White Stripe Capless")

I recently bought an Izumo President in aka-tamenuri with 424$ (+5$ the converter) from Fountainpen-Japan.com (see here). They have a good price (maybe the lowest)

Still, Engeika is cheaper! $390 including shipping! That makes it around $50 less considering shipping cost to Europe.

The President Izumo in akatame finishing is 429,30$ at Engeika, not 390$. Of course, there is an error on Engeika's site regarding the body of the FP"s which are not Tagaysan, but ebonite.

As I wrote before. Regardless of the price in his site, you can still negotiate for a better price. So $390 is at your negotiation skills.

Izumo are two different issues. Tagayasan (wood) which is cheaper and costs less than $390 and the ebonite (with Urushi) in three colors, black, red, green for which the price is (from Engeika after negotiation) less than $400 (including shipping).

In case you make an offer at ebay to engeika, due to ebay fees, you probably will get a price around $420 including shipping.

Well, this guy JUST told me, that I'll have to wait till july for HIM to get the pens from sailor.

I placed the order, and about one week later he told me id have to wait 9-12 days and he would ship it out. I waited 12 days, and emailed him. I got an email the next day saying he contacted sailor, for what im assuming to be THE FIRST TIME and told me Id have to wait untill july to get my pens.

Are you serious? What if this was a graduation gift? WHICH IT IS!!!

In the listings for the ones I've wanted it says 'contact us for availability.' When I have, he has responded within two days at the most. As I understand it, he doesn't stock any inventory and he is at the mercy of the manufacturers for availability. Holidays and their production schedules will affect this and, to me, reasonably so.

I get the impression that he has on-going communication with the manufacturers regarding expected ship dates and may periodically learn as he did for yours that there will be delays. He usually offers a full refund if you would rather not wait. All of mine were delivered within his originally stated wait time (which was a few weeks for each).

FWIW, I've had the exact same experience when buying watches or watch straps. Many retailers don't stock everything they offer on their websites in order to keep their prices down, and it may be as long as 3-4 months before they can get what I want. Even the popular US pen retailers may face a delay in obtaining an item currently offered on their web sites.

Can someone please tell me how quickly you get an answer to an email. I'd really like to buy something.

Ordered a Sailor Pro Gear Realo from Engeika's website 23 September 2014. It is 25 November 2014 with no pen, no communication. My first order from this provider. Probably my last (assuming I ever get a delivery). I have already advised two folks not to buy from these guys.

Follow up .... Engeika advised of shipping on 5 December. The pen arrived on 10 December. The pen and packaging were in fine condition. The pen appeared to be new and was everything expected plus.

It was a long wait, but this organization came through with a great product at a great price. i'd do it again.

I would also like to share my experience. I ordered a limited edition pen, which according to Engeika's website could take between "two weeks and a few months" if not in stock.

8th November: place order

13th November: ask them for status of order, a bit early actually.
14th November: Engeika replies saying that it's in process
6th December: send an email asking for an update

10th December: Engeika sends shipping details
16th December: receive item (Japan to US east coast)

My pen came in its box and plastic sleeve, even the price tag was still attached.
I was a little dissatisfied that there was no converter, given that this was a $200+ pen, but it wasn't a big deal. The quality of the pen was 8/10, there seems to be a few minor cosmetic flaws. But it's still a pen I love, and a pen I could not have afforded from other retailers (saved $150 by buying from Engeika).

Overall I would recommend him if price is a priority and if you are prepared to wait (or ask him beforehand if the item is in stock).

Ha, perfect time for me to place my first order with him...feeling like a chump.

If you order new items from him they will not be Mis-packaged. I ordered a Custom Heritage 912 and it was in correct packaging and the pen was sealed.

I ordered something on 25th December. Emailed right away requesting change of order. No reply. Two subsequent emails requesting order status have gone unanswered.
