Most Expensive Montblanc

Penne Stilografiche

Recommended Posts

I found this article today that shows the 10 most expensive pens in the world. Shockingly, a Montblanc pen is only the second most expensive pen, verses being the most expensive. Anyway, enjoy the article.

These are perverted pens. I'd like to have the Money,

but I'd rather write with my simple Meisterstück or one of my sheaffer Targas, PFM oder Legacys

Disgusting pens. (In my humble opinion)

The value of these pens is not to do with the pen, rather with the materials they have stuck onto them.

Craftsmanship also plays a part - but, read the hyperbole. This is all about status and display.

Thanks.

In all honestly, most of the pens are not worth in as a pen or even in material value. The 1.4 million dollar pen is worth approx. $500-700 in gold and $5000 in diamonds depending on the 4 c's. With labor costs, it is probably only worth $10,000-20,000, not even close to the 1.4 million dollar price tag. Most of the other pens on that list look very hideous, I honestly wouldn't write with any of them even if someone gave me one for free, they look ridiculous.

From a writing standpoint these pens should not even be considered. They are objects that the idle rich can leave on their desks or keep in smart glass display cases. They are, like gossip, fun to read about.

I couldn't agree more with your statement

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I would rather have a 139 with a palladium nib instead of it

Well a couple of years ago the cost of the 'Royal Black Diamond Fountain Pen' was, in the Queens currency,

£125,193.87p which equated to €150,150.00 thus roughly equating to $194,087.00.....losing this at the office or in a taxi would be a really bad day dont you think !!!!

I think someone who would have the money to afford this would have a personal driver rather and be the CEO of a company with a large office to himself, so I don't think there would be a big chance of permanently losing it... I would only buy that pen if it came along with a house and a car.

Paperweights, not even writing instruments.

If I had big money to spend I would prefer great vintage pens (rouge et noir, 139 ...)

Even my poor, trusted mb344 or my soennecken 100 are ways better than these monsters !

Greetings from Italy to you all !!

Those diamonds are tiny and difficult to even guess how many Points, or rather fraction of a point, each is, and that is the problem with using a standardised term, carat, for all stones. $1.4 million? I think Penne Stilografiche's price tag is nearer it's material value ... $1.38 million added for the artistry? I am having difficulty in stopping myself laughing out loud!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
