10 Reasons To Feel Great About Your Montblanc

Found this on the net. Think we should vote on the most cringe worthy statement.

I love number 7, makes me feel my MB pen collecting is really worth it. :ltcapd:

So here we go then :

10 Reasons To Purchase a Mont Blanc Pen

A guide to the world's best pens

1.All pens are hand-crafted by master pen makers which carry on the craft from generation to generation since a hundred years. Each pen is a unique masterpiece made by hand and requires more than 150 different manipulations.

2.The platinum or golden nib of a Mont Blanc fountain pen is so well-adjusted that it takes on the writer's individual writing characteristics. It will adapt to the way YOU write and adjust to give you the smoothness and easiness of writing. With a Mont Blanc pen you surely write at your best!

3.If you choose for a ballpoint pen or fineliner you won't need to buy the two of them! When buying 1 you buy both because the cartridges are exchangeable!

4.The company Mont Blanc has been a long time supporter of UNICEF and has helped raise more than one million Euros in order to fight illiteracy in the world's poorest countries. Mont Blanc even released a special edition of its famous "Meisterstück" pen called "Signature for Good" in order to raise 1.5 million Euros for this cause.

5.Mont Blanc is one of the few high-end manufacturers that do not adapt its products for specific markets. Its appeal is universal. In Europe, China, Brazil or the United States Mont Blanc pens are appreciated across cultures and races.

6.A Mont Blanc pen is so solid that you can use it all your life, then pass it to your child, which in turn will pass it through for a hundred years! Collector pens from the 1920's function as well as the brand new models of 2009.

7.With a Mont Blanc pen you establish your status when you show it in public. You tell the world that you're a person who knows and likes the refined objects of the world. Everybody will recognize the pens; Mont Blanc has a very recognizable logo (the six-pointed white star).

8.The technicity and sophisticated fabrication process confer the Mont Blanc pen a perfect weight and ergonomy. Nothing is as pleasurable as to perfectly glide with your pen on the piece of paper. With Mont Blanc pens you will definitely NOT be disappointed.

9.Mont Blanc pens keep their value, meaning that if you want to resell your pen after a year or two you will be able to recuperate up to 80% of its initial buying price (provided the pen is in good state of course).

10.When one thinks of excellent pens Mont Blanc is for most the first brand that comes to mind. The brand is actually so popular and such a reference that even James Bond used one to kill an enemy in one of the movies. Other celebrities carrying this pen are Marilyn Monroe, Winston Churchill, Stanley Kubrick, Al Pacino and Michael Jackson.

Where exactly would they carry them? (Except Al Pacino, of course)

This was obviously written by an expert. Consistently writes Mont Blanc in stead if Montblanc (but yes, he/she is consistent).

What makes me go sick.gif most are 2 and 8 (second sentence). I also think number 5 is incomplete. This should read: ...In Europe, China, Brazil or the United States Mont Blanc pens are appreciated AND FAKED across cultures and races.

I'm also fairly sure Sir Winston Churchill used a Conway Stewart, at least for some time.

A few more, although number six shows their age.

1. Mont Blanc pens do not send out spare parts for repair, so you will lose your time requesting such. This is done to ensure the best quality of craftsmanship, assembly and repair possible. If you are not skilled enough, you can damage a pen even when using original authentic spare part. The company does not want this to happen with your pen.

2. The company started over a century ago, in 1906. When you buy an authentic Montblanc writing instrument, be sure it’s backed up with long history few other pen makers can show off.

3. Mont Blanc is a German company. Its pens are manufactured in Germany, and only there. Montblanc’s products are thoroughly representative of German pens: conservative in style, heavily built, and expensive.

4. In 1992 Montblanc made expansion onto things other than luxurious pens. It started manufacturing accessories like leather cases, satchels, sun glasses, watches, wallets, etc.

5. Montblanc pens are tested by hand in absolute silence; their craftsmen listen for the “melody” of the pen’s nib on paper.

6. There are just two (yes, 2) lines of pens Mont Blanc produces; Meisterstuck (started in 1924) and Boheme (since 1990′s). All of Montblancs are either models of these, or limited editions.

7. Each Mont Blanc pen now carries figures ’4810′ on the nib. It’s the height of the mountain namesake in meters.

8. Mont Blanc writing instruments are identified by the white, six-pointed start on top of their pens.

9. In 1999, the company celebrated 75th Anniversary. Just 7 years later, it announced 100 Anniversary editions. It was so because different anniversaries were celebrated. The one in 1999 was in memory of Meisterstuck, the model that made Mont Blanc so famous over the world. The 100th Anniversary was celebrated as the date when three Germans united to found the ‘Simplo-Filler Pens Company’, which gave birth to Montblanc brand. Thus, the market faced Mont Blanc Mozart 75th special anniversary edition, and Mont Blanc Mozart 75 anniversary ball point pen. If you are interested in buying a Mont Blanc pen set of these 75th anniversary Mozart Edition pens, then you should know that this is one of the most searched for mont blanc pen gift sets found online.

10. The first pens produced by ‘Simplo Pens Company’ were named ‘Rouge et Noir’.

11. Mont Blanc Meisterstuck series pens were manufactured for each market individually. That is, Spanish Meisterstuck was called differently from Mexican. For English market, Meisterstuck was named Masterpiece (which is logical, isn’t; it?).

12. Some Montblanc pens were made with octagonal-formed bodies to prevent rolling off the table.

13. Mikhail S. Gorbachev used a Montblanc to sign his resignation; ironically, this pen can be considered as the instrument that was used to sign the treaty between republics of ruined USSR.

14. In “Never Say Never Again”, James Bond used Mont Blanc 149 (an old style) with a Union Jack flag on the barrel.

the same thought came to my mind after reading this thread.

Plus there was the Slimline / Noblesse line of pens albeit now discontinued and may not count.

Enjoy your pens

Please dont take this thread too seriously. I found it a pathetic/poxy assesment of my favourite pen maker by someone who knows nothing at all about the company or its products.

Please accept my apologies if you think I am taking this too seriously, it is not my intention, I am just trying to learn a bit more than "someone who knows nothing at all" about MB. Excuse me if I am being unpolite.

Warm Regards.

I bought all my Montblonks because James Bond killed somebody with one. :ninja:

Yeah, I dunno, it jest sealed the deal.

Seriously, I could not survive inside the brain that concocted that list, although I'm thinking for some buyers, it may be accurate. :headsmack:

Regarding point #7. Some Indian people, meaning the newly rich, especially those from North-East India. Folks there are so consumed by the need for "prestige", that they are known to get Mont Blanc fountain pens but never ink the damned pens, they just carry them in the breast pockets of their newly-rich uniforms, i.e. their safari suits!!! They have their pens just for show. Like they wear expensive Swiss watches on both their wrists, one supposedly on Indian Standard Time, and one supposedly on Greenwich Mean time. They are disgusting people to be around. I am glad that I now live in the USA, far away from such petty-minded people. Unfortunately, some are close relatives of mine. :( :(

Honest question: is it Mont Blanc or Montblanc or MontBlanc?

I’ve always typed it Mont Blanc. I’d like to know the actual way the company has it. I don’t want to type it wrong like some type Pelican rather than Pelikan.

Good thing I specified "pen company"!! I had the suspicion that more companies called themselves White Mountain in French in some form!!
