I wonder if there are enough buyers what parameters would allow for the introduction of small variances. For instance, if there are 80 of us who are buying and a material is selected that looks good in gold or silver, could an option for either color furniture be offered?

Must be the ink fumes. Looks right to me too now. :hmm1:

If we get 80 "yes" votes we may need a bigger "yes" box. j/k

I was making a list the other day of materials I'd like to see in a Pearl:

  •
  • dark tortoise celluloid
  • flecked tortoise acrylic
  • antique gold acrylic
  • brown pearlized acrylic
  • vioet flake acrylic
  • cappucino flake acrylic
  • gold dust acrylic
  • antique marble acrylic
  • pearlized wine acrylic
  • brown/black mottled acrylic
  • cinnamon acrylic
  • cinnamon swirl acrylic
  • red/black ebonite

I seem to gravitate to the warm browns, with an occasional flirtation with purples & wines.

Brian, let me be the next to thank you for setting this up!

These acrylics are all very beautiful, but I think it would also be a good idea to include an option in the poll for something more understated:

Black Ebonite

Satin Black Acrylic

People often overlook basic black. I have that black ebonite Pearl. I don't think a better pen has been made to carry everyday to work or school or whatever. It will go unnoticed by others for the most part but is a work of art in your hands...and pretty rugged as well.

This is probably a dumb question, so please bear with my ignorance...

It is possible to have a satin finish on an ebonite pen? I see the satin acrylic, but will the satin finish ruin the ebonite?

I could be interested but it depends entirely on material, so I am just posting to keep updated on that and won't vote in the poll until I see what we'd be getting. No problem with price, production time, terms, or anything else, it just hinges on what the pen turns out to be.

Satin finishes look best on solid colors, such as black. Anything with grain looks strange.

I can tell you that there will be no solid color choices (at least that's the plan now), so satin finishes are probably not an option.

This one is making me weak in the knees...

I could go for that one

Absolutely!

I'm in unless I absolutely hate the material chosen (unlikely). My own personal preference is for a pen where the cap and barrels are the same diameter is a solid color such as the orange as I think this really emphasizes the design, but I also love many of the other acrylics, especially this one

Count me in.

Also, big thanks to Heraclitus682, Brian Gray, and the Goulets for getting this thing off the ground. I cannot wait!

+1

And from me too. Also a really big thank you to Trillium, who came up with the idea in the first place.

A BIG thanks to Trillium who actually started this. His thread was the #1 thread to get this going. Also, when I started setting up the polls he was the #1 guy that I called when I had question or concerns. I know that he is happy to get his #1 Edison pen this way. I wish there was some way that we as a group, as the #1 Edison group buy on FPN could properly thank Trillium for starting all this. I mean, I believe this is the first #1 through whatever it ends up being limited edition Edison group buy that has happened :hmm1:

I'm fine waiting until Monday. I hate Mondays. I have to go back to work on Mondays. Brian has somehow made Mondays enjoyable.

Oh, is it going to be Monday? I didn't catch that originally.

Sigh. I'm in the suspense-is-killing-me group. I guess now I'll just have to ... go enjoy my real life.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
