Can Montblanc Meisterstuck Ballpoint Accept Roller Ball Refill?

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Montblanc Meisterstuck ballpoint pen. I'm curious, is there any way to use a roller ball refill in it? I saw some other posts going the other way, where you can buy a converter to use ballpoint pen refills in a roller ball model, but not roller ball in ball point pen.

Thanks!

MB rollerball refills are longer than ballpoint refills so there is no way to acomodate one in a ballpoint.

Yes you can .. but you have to have the 164 sized ball pen with a Pentel RB Hybrid refill. I am not sure if it works on a Legrand BP 161. I know it does not work on a Boheme BP. I use a Pentel KFR10-A0 Hybrid refill with a 1.0mm juicy line (Broad). I believe Pentel do a 0.5mm line as well (medium). This Pentel refill is meant to fit the Pentel K230 line of Hybrid pens. I am not sure what the Hybrid Pen stands for but it writes like a RB and not a BP. It is in my opinion better than the Gel Refills for BP made by Parker. The Ball on the tip is massive and it does not dry out if uncapped.

I have only tried this combination as I wanted a smooth fat wet line and the Pentel does the job for me. I am sure other Brands will work - you need to experiment by buying a few refills but stick to ones with plastic tubes so you can cut if you need to.

To make this work you need to get the Pentel RB refill and meassure against the Montblanc BP refill and chop of about half an inch of the plastic tubing of the Pentel RB refill so it is the correct size for the MB BP. This Pentel refill also fits the MB Legrand Rollerball without much modification (you need to put a small piece of eraser from a mechanical pencil to lenghten it slightly).

I tried the Monteverde BP Gel refill M43 and M44 with mixed results (hesitates at starting). The Pentel lays down a line which is smooth and consistent instantly - no sputtering or false starts.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
