Best Montblanc Pen?

You'll likely get as many opinions on this as Montblanc makes pens. For me, it's a 75th Anniversary 149 in black. Then again, the 149 in black is the grail pen I seem likely to never own.... sigh.

Montblanc does not make a better pen than the 149.

The 146 is a very close second.

For writing, the 149's with bespoke nibs (see pics in entry #21) are truly wonderful.

The best vintage model? The long inkwindow 139, no doubt.

Prices in the midrange? Any WE or POA, beautiful each to its own, and good writers across the board.

No price limit? Get a skeleton. The Black Widow is my favorite.

But if you would ask what is the classiest MB pen ?

The one that rules them all ?

The one that represents MB more then any other MB pen ?

Then the answer is obvious

 

The 149!!!

 

 

Among the WE's, I'd choose the Hemingway...

JP Morgan 4810. One can rock it with any attire and it writes like a dream. Not my grail pen, but I think it's the perfect pen overall! I love the 888 too!

My 1972 MB 149 B is always a pleasure to use, even more than the Pilot Custom 823.

I don't have the experience of others here, but when I was choosing, the Heritage 1912 was so obviously a stand out model:

 

The nib,

The retracting mechanism ,

The nib,

Its historic throw back look,

Did I mention the nib?

 

Cost no object means the titanium, or 1914 version is also in the running.
