To get or not to get?

I'm planning on getting one secondhand for about $60-80.

Is that a good price, and is it worth it?

Surely depends on condition of the leather and also whether the pockets have been stretched and will be too loose to hold your cards securely.

Worth is a personal opinion. I look at the TWSBI pen, is it very cheap when compared to a montblanc, to me though they are not worth the money as I really do not get the appeal of them.

They are expensive when comparing them to other wallets you could get for a tenth of the cost. My brother and I both love ours. I've had mine for well over 5 years and it is not showing any signs of wear or tear.

Usually there are very resistant. I've add my filofax size agenda for nearly 10 years now, my purse for even more, and a wallet with 4cc and they are all in excellent condition still, even though I use them a lot. Every so often, I use some sort of liquid polish for sofas, and that's enough to keep them shiny.

Saddleback are fantastic but VERY stiff at first which, to be fair, they admit on their site. Montblanc leather is more than durable enough for most people. If you decide not to buy then perhaps you could let me know where it is as I am always tempted with MB leather products.

I have had the same MB wallet since 2001. While it does show some wear for its ten years of service, I think it still looks great. I have have no plans or need to change it. There are not that many items I would use daily for ten years which would not require replacement.

Highly recommended!

I have a MB business card "wallet" that I bought on a whim on eBay. I have been using it like a wallet occasionally. It's very nice.

I have a MB Selection, and love it. I use it every day.

I like the MB wallets, but they're a bit on the expensive side for me, and for some reason, I just don't like the button with the MB star on it.

However, I'm also very picky about leather, and found these two makers in the USA:

RennaUSA made my current wallet. They're based in New Hampshire, and make excellent leather (mens' wallets around $70; add around $300 for alligator): RennaUSA website.

C.L. Whiting makes leather goods with outstanding (and unique) leaf-pattern tooling on fabulous leather (men's wallets around $70): C.L. Whiting website.

To be honest, gauging from the pouch I have for my pens I wouldn't recommend Montblanc leatehr goods as companies like Bree make better wallets/bags...

I wouldn't gauge Wallets from pouches. My MB Selection wallet still looks as great as when I bought it.

I bought one some years ago, still have it around somewhere, but I found that the I.D. pocket was much too big for U.S. driver's licenses and was a PITA. I ended up getting a Johnston and Murphy, and it's excellent. The MB is rattling around in a drawer somewhere.

Sorry to hear about your wallet. The ID insert in my wallet fits the US driver's license perfectly.

The Op was looking at a wallet for 60-80USD.

That is a great price for a good product.

I paid considerably more for my Mandarina Duck and Burberry wallets- retail... :headsmack:

The Mandarina wallets are incredible- I have about four and have had them for over ten years- they still even retain the leather smell.

to the OP- buy it

Really nice wallets, extremely branded and not a good investment.

I just had one sent in for servicing due to a tear in some of the stitching.

Other problems are of the "scales" flaking off from the surface. My aunt

has many of these, with a nice texture, but they do not last, really...

Recently, I tried using Braun Buffel, Tumi and they were cheaper yet

amazingly durable and well made. Go for MB wallets only for the brand!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
