This guy here

Anyone used any of these? I have the full 146 line excluding this... tempting.

Also interested in your opinion on choice of briefcase, I will be ordering one of these, but since it takes them 10 or so weeks to make one I am looking for a small one to go for now.

MEISTERSTÜCK VS WESTSIDE

Which one is more suitable for a business environment? I had a older version westside in college - nice being less abusive to scratches and all, but the locking mechanism looks rather strange and the "new" version has lot's of "montblanc" label's / icon's on it. Urgh, make a little star and get over it.

The Meisterstuck on the other hand looks rather classy, but from my experience with a Meisterstuck wallet they scratch very much and very fast. Who knows maybe the bags are better than the wallets.

Which one would you personally pick?

Hello. Well, I have an MB document marker (as they are called). As, I'm sure you know, the Meisterstuck stuff is quite elegant; the dm is no exception.

Aside from it taking either a green or yellow hi-lighter refill, the only notable difference betwix this and the 146 rollerball or fountain is that the cap pushes on (a la 144 style) rather than screws on.

What else can be said except "buy one", so you can have a sense of completeness!

Good luck on the brief case mission; for that, I offer no opinion.

I can't speak to the highlighter questions- haven't had the need for highlighters for years.

I can chime in about the briefcase issue.

I own three of the Meisterstuck briefcases- single gusset, double gusset, and triple gusset.

You are right in that the WestSide line has less surface area to show scratches. However, I feel that the 'over-branding' on the leather products on the WestSide line does make the products more suitable for campus, and less so for business / office / work.

I absolutely LOVE the look, feel, smell- everything of the brand new shiny black Meisterstuck leather goods. So AWESOME. The first scratch does make you want to have a stroke, but between the needing to have a stroke from paying the price tag, and the stroke from the first scratch, it is pure bliss.

Get the Meisterstuck. If you're going to be in an office setting, you can use the shoulder strap going in and out of the building, but take it off when going to meetings. The sliding mechanism for the hide-away shoulderstrap clips is just genious. I don't think that feature is on the Westside- I think you are 100% committed to shoulder strap all of the time.

In my opinion, the Meisterstuck looks more grown-up, and professional. The Westside line looks a bit more casual- Like casual Fridays, or something.

I hope my biased perspective helps you, a little. Of course, my opinion is never meant to be taken personally. I don't mean to step on any Westside fans' toes. Sorry to you guys.

Love,

Joe

I recently had a dilemma similar to your highlighter one: refer to here (Spoilers: Don't do it, its a highlighter...)

Secondly, please tell me what your occupation is so I can change my career path to match that of yours, cause its obviously working out very well for you.

And lastly, go with the Meisterstuck. I'm a fan of the Westside line, but if your going for a briefcase, the Meisterstuck one looks sharper and more professional.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
