I have a MB 234 1/2 G Deluxe (52-55 only) KOB. A 1 1/2 tier pen.

I don't know waht page it is on Lambrau's book in English, but translations in to German are 1/3 longer.

On page 229

First number

1= meisterstuck

2= middle price

3= lower price.

next number is what filling system

0=safty filler

2=button filler

3= piston.

Sure don't know what the 146-149 is supposed to mean though.

The third number is the nib size. In my case a 4 1/2.

The letter is,

G=glatt/smooth,

S=guillochiert/Chased

E= engraved rose pattern

PL = Silver gray and black

P = Pearl gray

Hello pen friends,

It is an old topic, but the G is standing for that the pen is shining, it had a special extra buffing. I got this information from someone who is working by Mont Blanc. I have a 142G myself and it is black and not green.

Bo Bo Olson is right!

the middle numeral, in this case 4, indicates a piston filler from the 1950s editions, all across the 1xx, 2xx or 3xx models.

I always thought G stood for Great

Thanks for resurrecting a really old thread. It was fun to re-read it.

Excellent. From the horse's mouth, at last!

Nice to see this old thread, again.

Thanks.

G is a gold nib.

The G is standing for a shining pen, so a 142G means that this pen had a extra buffing. Source is from someone who is working at Mont Blanc.

Hi, JonRis:

Just got a new very nice Montblanc green striated "Masterpiece 144G".

http://www.tradera.com/Montblanc-Masterpiece-Reservoarpenna-auktion_302300_115161956#pic

When looking at at all the pictures at Maxpens.de which I often use to identify Montblanc pens
I see that there is another model 142 which is very similar..... This leads me to a few questions:

- what is the difference between 142 and 144?

The 142 is thinner and also uses a smaller nib (that's what the final number stands for). But (and I'm not 100% sure about this) I think, they both are the same lenght. It certainly happens that both 144 and 146 are the same length.

- what does G stand for

Most probably Gloss finish, from a time Montblanc still thought such a clarification was needed.

- When was my pen "Masterpiece 144G" most likely manufactured

By the end of 1949, to 1951, I'd say.

- Are there twins that are labeled Meisterstuck also for the german market since
I guess the Masterpiece must have been an export version?

Right on both aspects. Also you might find "Capolavoro".

Can anyone help? The pen is in excellent condition and it would be good to know more about it!

Messages above already answered all your questions, but I thought it made sense put all them together.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
