Roger Moore And Mont Blanc Fountain Pens

Well, he did say that most don't work, he didn't say they were necessarily broken. Maybe most are simply un-inked?

Maybe they're used as spare parts to restore others.

There was a Parker in GoldenEye, seemed a Jotter.

Yes. It was a regular looking stainless Jotter classic. The pen was a grenade which would arm after three quick clicks.

An evil Russian "hacker" had a habit where he would click the ballpoint action while twirling it (in addition to a ludicrous ability to type code with just his right left hand). Like any Chekov's Gun, there was a jumble/mixup and the pen eventually ended in a standing pool of volatile fuel surrounded by high explosives.

See for yourself :)

That would seem logical whether they were fountain pens or not.

Nor is there any guarantee that the writer quoted him exactly.

Dear all,

Just read an article in the Sunday Times about Roger Moore. (20th June 2010 back of the Money section)

He was asked the question "what is your money weakness" and answered

"Pens. I have hundreds of them - all Mont Blanc. I'm sitting at my desk now looking at them except most don't work.".

I thought James Bond had a weakness for the ladies, now we know the truth.

Sounds like a lot of pens going to waste in Switzerland and Monaco, perhaps we should introduce him to a local pen repair shop, Does anyone know of one?, Preferably tall and blond!

Regards all

Lawrence.

By "not work" he may have meant "not filled." Just a thought....

Beg to disagree.

Roger = "the Saint"

Sean Connery = "A-007"

This I agree with. Now aren't we making a leap that they are all fountain pens? We always wish that others have the same tastes as we do.

The difference between the almost right word & the right word is really a large matter--it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.

I agree, that's how I understood it. Too many pens to keep filled that most "don't work"

Highest probability is that they are all Rollerballs and Ballpoints.

And yes, many have problems with the concept that refills can restore BP, RB, and MPs to writing again. Most people seem to have problems with the "Halo Effect," where a person is good at one thing so they assume they are good at all things.

I've run up against the situation:

Where is the pen/pencil?

Broke, tossed it out.

What do you mean "broke?"

Wouldn't write.

Did you put a refill/new lead in?

Hmmph. {walks away}

YMMV

Sounds half baked to me.

It's not like he can't afford to fix them.

What pen aficionado would have Broken MBs??

Sounds more like a MB graveyard..............what a waste!!!!

I'd don't know. Maybe is he too busy/lazy to repair them. Therefore if one breaks he simply buys a new one but then doesn't want to chuck them away.

I know I have old Parker pens which are broken. I don't really ever intend to write with them so there is no need to repair them.

In all fairness, he wasn't much of a Bond.

I heard more then few saying that and its all a matter of personal taste.

I personally think he was the best Bond so far.

Respect to all

I concur

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
