New Starwalker From Costco? Can You Help Authenticate?

Folks, I can put up more picture later if needed but these are the "quick and dirty" ones I just took.

I just picked up this Starwalker yesterday from Costco. I check the serial number and compared it with three others they had in stock and they were all different. I also received a warranty card that stated it was purchased on 3/12/2013 from Italy. The warranty card didn't have the model or serial number of the pen on it though. I don't think this is a big deal but just wanted to note it.

The box looks authentic. All the tell-tale signs are there. In fact, the box looks exactly as this one here being sold on eBay: Montblanc Starwalker Midnight Black Resin Ballpoint Pen 105657 | eBay.

Most things check out on the pen. The weight feels correct, the "precious resin" has a reddish hue under a good light, the serial doesn't turn up anywhere after a search. It feels right. There's only one thing that concerns me: it doesn't say "Pix" anywhere. Under the clip, it only says "Made in Germany".

Thoughts?

One more thing - I did a Google search and lurked this forum for a bit and the best I could come with was this (very) useful post:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/249953-recent-changes-to-the-montblanc-classique-and-possibly-legrand-and-149/

If the post is correct, the lack of a "Pix" stamp would not seem as critical.

Thanks.
I did read that post but it's a different pen. Mine is a ballpoint Starwalker and my serial doesn't get any hits online (his was a fineliner).

well, iirc, 20 years ago, costco was where the now-venerable ernest hemingway FP was sold at half-price for $300 because it was such a poor seller when it first came out. wish they'd do that again! ;)

Check out my blog and my pens

The pictures of a Starwalker that I can see in the OP look like an authentic Starwalker. The serial number is in the right place which is always a good sign, and the latest Starwalkers have Made in Germany under the clip, without the added word Pix

That's the key piece of information I was hoping to get confirmation on. The fact that it missing the "Pix" was not necessarily an automatic red flag.

I own two platinum rollerball (one's the 100 year diamond one) both purchased at a retail location and they both have it. As you can see, I'm not experienced with the starwalker.

Thank you Chrissy.

I intend on getting it checked by a boutique, but it might be a week or two before I'm able to do so. When I do, I'll return here to update the thread.

I'll keep on lurking. Thanks for all the info guys!

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
