What MBs are you using today?

MB stopped producing the nibs in BBB by the mid 1970s. A definitive reason is not known. The nibs that people post that are marked 14C and are two-tone (mostly rhodium with gold on the rim) and 14K and 18K are not BBB unless they are custom made or retipped. Since nibs are not marked, nib with canbe debated as to B vs BB etc., but I have not seen a more modern nib that had a BBB sticker or some other documentation to show it was broader than a BB. I am not talking about 03B with is still available on a 149 as a no cost option.

 

If you want to spend a lot ofmoney, you can get a much wider nib from the factory through a special order program. They offer music and caligraphy nibs, but you could also order other siezes like BBB or BBBB. I would love a caligraphy nib but I have not saved up to purchase one (probably because I keep buying other pens).

Looks like a wet B to me. These older 146 monotone nibs can be pretty wet.

 

They did not make BBB in this model pen.

I agree with zaddick. That nib also looks more like a B to me than a BB.

The Blue Hour is back from its 6 week spa vacation in Germany. Refreshed from a standard M to a new juicy, smooth, glorious BB. He is joined herein with a 146 Platinum B and a 146 Ultra Black M.

Three office pens. These are customized... Montblanc 24 in grey but I swapped the blue ink window for orange because orange and grey looks sweet. The 121(?) With sterling cap has a section swap from a 125. The Leonardo ballpoint is just normal.

No, just the light playing tricks. You can see the cap star is white resin. Also, the clip looks newer.

 

Still a 149 is a pleasure to use for many of us, regardless of the vintage!
