Bulletproof Gel Ink Pens

You guys remember the movie "Catch Me If You Can"? It is about Frank Abagnale, Jr. who, according to IMDb, "... successfully conned millions of dollars worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264464/

His official website...

And the uni-ball pen he helped create...

"After years of recommending the uni-ball gel pen to combat check washing, Mr. Abagnale along with uni-ball has developed to his specifications the uni-ball 207."

I forgot to mention I bought a pack of uni-ball 207s tonight at Wal-Mart. They were about $6 for a pack of 4 pens in medium 0.7mm (2 black, 1 blue, and 1 red). I wrote on a piece of paper, let the ink dry for a few minutes, and sprayed the paper liberally with hair spray. The ink didn't run at all.

compared with it, I prefer this one, it writes very very comfortable,it also has a gel in pen and mechanical pencil.0.5mm

I used these pens for a while as well. I didn't even know they were meant to be waterproof/bulletproof. I just liked them for their writing properties and nice design.

Weird that they aren't advertised as being extra bulletproof or anything.

But is it bulletproof like the uni-ball 207?

yes it's not, but the refill of Uni-207 you mentioned is very cheap, here it is only 1 pound ($2) for 7 ones, and the pentel ergonomix can also use it, since both pentel and Uni are all made by japan~~.

a few questions. :)

can the 207 refill fit pens that take a parker refill? perhaps there's an adapter we can buy.

is the 207 bulletproofness as good as Noodler's bulletproof inks?

uni-ball also makes the Vision Elite which states it's waterproof and fade-proof. It also makes some vague claim of being fraud proof, but it doesn't explicitly say it's checkwashing proof though. sounds like it's not quite as good as the 207.

The 207 does make claim that it is fraud proof on checks, but I just don't like the design. I much prefer Uni-Ball's regular gel pens like these:

I LOVE these pens!

Goodness, Betty, that's a lot of Uniballs!

Oh yeah! These are much more affordable for collecting every color than fountain pens...My collection is still missing a few colors. I just brought them one by one whenever I saw a new color. It added up quickly!

Wow,you are really the loyal fan of Japanese production~~, I guess Mitsubishi company should award you when they saw your picture~~. however, it is very costly to buy those pens in US or UK, usually, the same money you spent for 1 pen, can let you buy a dozen in China, when I am travelling in China, I found UniBall's production is just like a bic in USA.

i found some pens which can use parker style refills ,can still use the gel ink refill like Uni or Pentel, however, parker ball pens can not use them at all.

but compared with those japanese gel ink, I love the Parker Gel Refills better than them, because , the parker gel refill's in is just like the roller ball's ink, but those japanese gel ink turns grey after you write.

I have Noodler's Black here. They both pass the same tests.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
