i found out Faber Castell converter works perfect with my starwalker 100 years special edition fountain pen.

perfect match , just go ahead grab one for your baby :P

FWIW: After reading a few forum posts and watching some youtubes, I ordered both the Monteverde Mini Ink converter and the Graf Von Faber-Castell converter. The Faber-Castell was snug to put on at first but works great. The Monteverde was a total fail, too loose and doesn't stay on at all. I have a Starwalker Metal & Rubber with medium nib bought in 2008. Glad to not be stuck with only using cartridges.

Currently inked: Starwalker Rubber & Metal, Parker Sonnet Ciselé Sterling, Pilot Vanishing Points.

I just ordered a Rosetta mini-converter to try on my Starwalker. The converter isn't much bigger than the small international cartridge it replaces. It's on ipenstore for about $2.50. I'll post a follow up if it works.

Hi,

That's just a regular Schmidt converter, so perhaps the other Schmidt converters will fit too. Has anyone tried the Rotring converter? Those are international sized and built on the same design as the Waterman converters and are slimmer. It should work. I use those with many of my pens that don't take the other converters.

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

I have installed a Franklin-christoph converter in Cool Blue Starwalker that fits as if made for the pen. I emailed Franklin-Christoph asking who made the converter. I am thinking it is a Schmidt. I will be trying out a Rotring soon and will let you know...

Franklin-Christoph uses Schmidt converters that are branded. Seth wrote me that these are international standard size. You can see more here I will update thread when I pick up Rotring converter today.

FC worked fine on my Midnight Black!

Thax all for the tip!!!

I'd forgotten all about this thread and even the concept of applying a converter to a Starwalker. Having bought a Starwalker FP last week it was good to see this thread again.

I've just bought a FC one from the market leading online auction website, hope to get it by the weekend (unless the annual slowdown in post has already kicked in).

After reading Dawn's review of the Starwalker, I felt compelled to tell of the converter I found that fits my Starwalker 100 Ceramic - its from a Ferrari da Varese, and it fits perfectly. I filled it with Noodler's NI-BLUE, and it hasn't leaked a bit! Having no cartridges (none come with the pen), the only way I could write with my ceramic starwalker was to find a converter that fit. The nearest box that actually HAD a converter in it was my new Ferrari da Varese solid silver fountain pen.

So, for those who would rather not fuss with cartridges for their starwalkers, there IS a solution out there.

I just bought a starwalker doue, went to the shop and got it fitted with a very good and well sealed Caran D'Ache converter! It carries a good volume too! Some people say the Graf Von Faber Castell converter works as well. So there you go :)

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

Faber Castell and Rotring (made by Schmidt)fit neatly and snugly in the starwalker. I think we're done here

Last I checked, the Rotring converters were not made by Schmidt. They are slimmer and are based on the Parker/Waterman converter design just with an international-sized connector.

The Caran d'ache converters are Schmidt as are the Faber Castell ones though.

Found a convertor that works on the MB Starwalker - Waterman S0112881 - its about $12 on Amazon. Just tried it on mine and works like a charm, no leaking, ink flow is good & smooth. Using MB ink (Burgundy) and the difference is striking between the Burgundy cartridge and using ink with the convertor. Here are the details and the link.

The Waterman S0112881 Convertor for Fountain Pens (56010W) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WKM50G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hope this helps. Have often turned to FPN for fountain pen issues, but never became a member. This was a find I had to share with everyone who has been as annoyed with MB not having a working convertor as me. Thank you for all your guidance. :)

Huh. My waterman converter for my Exception does not fit my Starwalker at all. My starwalker does great with the Pelikan C499 international converters though.

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

I have been using a Visconti ink converter in my Starwalker Cool Blue for the past 3 years with no problems, it has never leaked one drop.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
