Fountain Pen Stores in Chicago

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have to go to Chicago next month, I will be near East North Water Street

Chicago, IL 60611, and am wondering if there are any fountain pen stores in that area. Interested in new or vintage Pelikans.

Just curious.

Thank-you,

Rande

There are Levenger stores within two Marshall Field department stores. The one at Water Tower Place will be closer to you. Levengers typically carries new Pelikans, no vintage. Here are the addresses:

Marshall Field's State Street

111 N. State Street Chicago, IL 60602 (312) 781-3140

Marshall Field's at Water Tower Place

835 N. Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 60611 (312) 335-7770

Enjoy!

There is also an office supply store downtown just a couple blocks from the big Marshall Fields. They have an excellent selection of fountain pens with a knowledgeable salesman. I cannot remember the name of the place. Does anyone out there know the name?

I bought a Conklin Symetrik there a year ago during one of their Friday pen fairs where the dealers were there showing and selling their pens.

Sadly that place has closed. The knowledgable pen guy (Ed Hamilton) is as far as I know looking into opening his own pen shop. I'm hoping he is back in the pen game soon!!!

Just googled "Fountain Pens, Woodfield Mall" from my phone and this topic came up first. Great store (Executive Essentials) and I found my next pen. Namiki M80.

Another reason to love Fountain Pen Network!

You will look in vain for Marshall Fields. It was absorbed by Macy's.

Century Pens:

have fun. I hope to hit Century Pens in the next couple weeks.

momentary lift of my heart.. Thought "OH! Did Marshall Fields Chicago somehow escape the Macy's hit"???

Already envisioned visiting Chicago, and immersing my self in memories there.. took the train from Detroit, and spent summer weeks with my grandmother..she was a blast, not your usual grandmotherly type, loved to shop, modeled hair for magazines, and runway for MF's..

sigh..I previously enjoyed shopping Macy's in Other states.. but can't bear to go to what was once Hudsons here, or sniff, MF's in Chicago:.(

Definitely recommend Pieritz Brothers. It's out in the suburbs, but if I recall correctly they're within spitting distance of one of the Oak Park green line stops. I bought my Lamy Vista there a couple of years ago and it was a most enjoyable transaction. I think they have Pelikans, but it would be worth calling before making the trip. http://www.pieritz.net/

Plus if you're up for a walk and have a bit of time, you can tour the Frank Lloyd Wright home & studio. :)
