What modern pens are lever fillers?

I am really not a big fan of vintage pens, but I like lever fillers. Do any modern pens have a lever fill mechanism? If there are any, which do you folks recommend? I am not interested in super-pricey limited edition pens. The most I am willing to spend is $500.

The only one you're LIKELY to find new would be a special order 100 from Conway Stewart, UNLESS you get a good price on a Delta limited edition or a Conway Stewart Churchill.

You can get a lever filled Dolce Vita from Fahrney's for under $500, BUT it is a desk pen that comes with a stand/holder, rather than a cap & clip.

Are there any stores in the USA that sell the Conway Stewart 100 by special order? I know Conway Stewart is made in England. I really do not want to order from overseas.

I am not interested in desk pens. I do not even own a desk.

Delta Dolce Vitae desk pen:

http://www.joonpens.com/Delta_Dolcevita%20...0Sets_pens.html

Available in a single fountain pen version; also available as a double set - fountain pen and ballpoint.

Originally only available as a lever fill; now also available as a cartridge / converter.

The lever filled fountain pen and ballpoint set nests on my desk. They're great pens - smooth, wet, and always ready.

Thanks, but I am not interested in desk pens. I do not own a desk.

Go to www.oscarbraunpens.com and email Pam Braun for a quote on a lever-filled Churchill in your choice of finish. She may come in under $500. Otherwise, you need to go to the bespoke section of CS' website for ordering instructions.

Sorry I forgot to think of Pam to begin with. I think odds are that she can make you happy.

I have a Sheaffer LE and a Delta LE with lever filling mechanisms. Both pens function very well, but hold about three drops of ink. If you are interested in lever fillers, might you consider some vintage pens?

I do not trust buying vintage pens online. I would need to actually try before buying.

If a pen only holds three drops of ink, I would not even consider it. That seems like something is wrong with it.

The 1997 Sheaffer's Balance LE holds much more than 3 drops of ink. Other than Delta, your best bet are Conway Stewart's. BTW: don't be afraid to buy a vintage pen from a reputable seller.

I really have no experience with sellers of vintage pens on eBay. I do not want to get burned. I have no way of telling which ones are reputable.

I was also worried about vintage pens, but have tried a few now and they're the best bang for buck I've seen. I notice that you're from Ohio. You could try the Ohio Pen Show in Columbus. There, you could try the pen before you buy, and you're likely to get a good deal as well.

I understand that Visconti & Conway Stewart makes lever-fillers, but apart from that, I think you're limited to vintage pens.

Lever-fillers have got to be the epitome of vintage fountain pens...

I am sure if you ask here, even the seller will not be offended because if they are reputable, people will only confirm that fact, and that boosts their reputation.

BTW, if you do get a CS, have fun. I have no experience owning one, but wrote with one and it was very nice.

It's a shame that lever fillers aren't used a bit more. They can hold just as much- or more- ink as similarily sized piston filler. Not surprising, as there just isn't much in the way of mechanism taking up space.

/me made a button filling Kaweco Sport- that's almost a lever filler! :D

In bespoke, a Dandy would run < $500 and would be a lever filler.

It surprises me that the options for a modern lever-filler are so limited. Given the relative simplicity, it seems that they would be more common. Especially compared to something like a vacuum-fill, which can be found on a handful of modern pens.

I really cannot make the trip to Columbus. I am busy with school right now and will be for some time.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
