I've used a little plastic tube snippet that I cut off of another refill as a shim, and it worked fine. Reusable, too.

I've done this with my Lamy Studio rollerball and it works well. I used gel pens almost exclusively before I switched to FP's. I think Pilot G-2 refills are the best on the market.

any idea on a good way to extend it?

Paraffin?

Epoxy?

CA glue?

Or just a piece of crumpled tissue/paper.

i've tried putting a short spring at the end of a Montblanc barrel as well and that works too.

After reading this thread I kludged something together that makes a Parker Gel refill work inside of MB rollerball. I cut a 5/8" piece off of the end of a Papermate stick pen and put that in the blind cap of the MB rollerball. The insert still slid around, so I took a 1/2" piece of the ink tube from the stick pen and slid it over the lower part of the gel refill. That got the refill in position without any play. Pretty cool, because this MB has been laying around for 10 years because I hate rollerballs.

Please don't encourage me to obtain any more pens. :)

I must admit that I am a bit lost as to why someone would want their MB to write like a Pilot G2. If one wants a pen that writes like a Pilot G2 why not buy a Pilot G2? It will be much less of an investment and will matter less if lost. Surely the clever money is on fitting a G2 with an MB refill. You then have a cheap pen that writes like an MB and only you know ;)

Many here feel that the G2 writes better than a MB rollerball.

And it's much cheaper too.

Maybe the MB fineliner gives a better writing experience but the rolloerball refil is just the same as any other rollerball.

And the MB ballpoint refil is a total disappointment.

for me

1 g2 refill writes better

2 g2 is less money

3 g2 lasts much longer

MB looks better. hmm, better to look good or write good?

I use the mini G2's and cut down an old tube from an empty G2 to get the right fit.

In my pen case I have a set of the mini refills, 1 spacer and one waterman or what ever holder you are using for a pen. The mini's come in 8 colors so what ever mood I am in that day that is the refill I pull out to put in my pen.

Easier than changing ink in my fountain pen lol.

In the pen turning section there is a mini G2 pen that was made.

Pilot G2 refills also fit Aurora rollerball pens. They do NOT fit Parker or Sheaffer rollerball pens.

I have a G2 refill in my Sheaffer Balance rollerball, and it fits alright.

I have a signo refill in my Sheaffer and works fine as well.

Just a 'thank you' to Andy for the G2 refills which he so kindly offered in this thread.

Now then....how can I get them to fit in my various rollerballs without to much butchering!

Thanks again Andy

Kind of late to this thread, but I have the G2 in the aforementioned Waterman Phileas, a Waterman Carene, and a Namiki Impressions.

The Phileas can be picked up just about anywhere. The Impressions, which is a gorgeous pen, is no longer in production and much harder to find.

The Carene is a heavier pen with a tapered section, so that may not work for some. Mine is amber shimmer which is quite lovely.

Like others, I think the G2 is the best refill available.

The Pilot Execugel is a nice thin pen that takes G2 inserts. I also have a "Foray Focus" (I think they sell it at Staples or Office Max) that it fits in, although it's a little tight.

Sorry for bumping this thread up but just want to confirm, the Pilot G2 Gel refill and the Uniball Signo 207 refill fits ALL WATERMAN ROLLERBALL? As in I can use the Pilot G2 and Signo 207 refills to refill all the waterman rollerballs?

Again a late comment to this thread, but the G2 will fit and work in a Parker Vector but make sure that you take out the little colour button from the end of the G2 Refill first or else it will get stuck in the bottom of the Parker Vector barrel ..... well stuck..... :headsmack:

The G2 is also interchangable with ITOYA.

Does anyone know what other manufacturers pens the Pilot Gel G2 inserts fit? My wife likes the way they write, but not the way the pen looks, she wants something nicer. :)

Thanks,

Adrian

The G2 rollerball refill, especially the bold point refill, writes far BETTER than the Montblanc rollerball refill! The G2 colors are bold, the ball is smooth, and the ink is nicely wet. The Montblanc rollerball refill does not compare! Putting an EXCELLENT refill such as the G2 in a favorite rollerball greatly improves one's enjoyment of a pen.

I use the Pilot G2 broad blue refill in my Waterman Rhapsody rollerball pens as well as my Elysee rollerball pens. I alternate between the Pilot G2 broad blue refill and the Cross gel ink blue rollerball refill (modified with a little tape) for my Montblanc Noblesse rollerball pens. The Waterman and Montblanc rollerball refills cannot compare to the Pilot G2 refill!!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
