Montblanc Schiller ltd. ed. pen - Is it real or fake? Please help

Hello

I just received a Montblanc Schiller limited ed. BP pen as a gift.

I cannot decide, if it's real or fake, as I didn't get a certificate for it.

The outside of the pen looks like as it should be (serial nr. etc...)

It's using a montblanc filler, which cannot be said from most of the fake MB pens....but my concern is about the spring.

If I know well, most MB pen's are using a built in spring, which is attached to the inside part of the pen.

My pen has a "normal" spring, which can be put on the filler....

If somebody owns this type of pen (and a sure original one), please check the spring, if it's attached to the inside, or

a normal one which can be put on the filler...

Thank you

Hello

I cannot decide, if it's real or fake .....

Hi,

what about a picture of the complete pen and in detail of the "spring"?

First let me say I do not own this pen so I may be very wrong. That being said, from the pictures you posted, I would lean towards a fake for two reasons. One, the spring as you mentioned is very uncharacteristic of Montblanc. Two, either you have a heck of a glare off the top of the cap on each photo, or the star is too big. Of course better photos would help, and ultimately a trip to the boutique would be the final word, but my guess at this point is a fake, sorry.

I checked other photos from this pen, and the star looks just the same size as my pen's.....(I attached two pic', 1 from the official MB site)...interesting, but it seems, that the BP has bigger star, than the FP

About the spring....yes, that was my concern too....still, if somebody could verify this, who has this pen, that would clear the matter....

Does your pen have a limited edition number below the clip ring to the left of the clip?

Having a serial number does not guarantee that the pen is genuine MB. I have seen many many fakes which had serial numbers, in fact, some had the same serial number on two different pens.

Take the pen to a MB boutique, they will tell you for sure. From the quality of the images provided, I cannot tell if it is real or fake.

Limited editions don't have serial numbers on them, they have limited edition numbers. In the Schiller ballpoint's case this should be xxxxx/16000

The bp looks real to me - but the tip should not be unscrewed (and then the spring would not come off), the tip used to be glued to the barrel. To change the refill the cap has to be unscrewed!

In addition to the spring issue, the lacquer does not look right...too dull. I vote fake but admittedly I don't know this model up close and personal.

I agree that the cap is dull if it was lacquer. But the cap on the Schiller is amber.

Semantics, the pens I was referring to had the "limited edition" numbers as you refer to them. Each one I saw of the Fitzgerald had the same number. There was a row of about 12 of them for sale in a grey market in Shanghai a few years ago. So, I still stand by my statement, albeit modified slightly, that having numbers on a pen does not guarantee that it is genuine.

Hello

It has a serial nr. of xxxxx/16000, also, it contains the "Germany Pix" too.

About the shop, yesterday I tried to bring it to a shop, unfortunately it just moved a few days ago, and now I can't find any MB shops near....just a shop, which is a little far from here.

First I wait a little, if somebody can check the spring on his Schiller BP...

Thanks for all the opinions

Just had a look at my own, and agree with the comment above that I cannot remove the end piece. The cap twists off to reveal ballpoint cartridge.

that said, the pics look right to me.

One further thing, the Schiller is a pretty light pen to hold. Often, fakes use metal rather than resin. perhaps this may help too.

Bren

I looked at one of these today. I was allowed to disassemble it, and like others said, I could not remove the 'end cone'. But I felt a springy action with the BP filler, so did not see a spring, but felt it. I think you are okay on this gift. Congrats.
