Hi all,

 

i won this pen in yahoo JP. The imprint on the cap band is 22K AGM.

I am attaching a picture of it. I think most of the super series pens have the R14 inscription on the cap bands.

 

Any ideas as to what the 22K AGM stand for?

Hi Nikolaos,

 

I have what looks like the same pen with the 22k AGM mark. I wondered the same when I got my pen, Googled it and came up with nothing. It is still a mystery to me.

 

If it is the same as my pen it's a modern Super which is a c/c pen instead of the older switch filler.

 

I hope somebody else can explain the AGM mark.

I have the older switch filler that looks almost exactly like the pictured pen. Mine had a black jewel on the bottom but otherwise looks the same. It was inscribed R 14K (was some brassing on the band so couldn't see the whole thing). Not to hijack this thread in any way, but it was a beautifully made and writing pen and I would like to replace it, anyone know what model/type it would have been?

I think Dr. Ron or Stan can give a more definitive answer but from what I know it could have been a Super 100, 150, 200, 250 or 300. They all looked basically the same but increased in size and nib quality as the model number went up. If Nikolaos' pen is like mine it is not marked with a model number but is closest in size to the Super 300.

 

As far as finding one... the two members I listed above have them for sale now and then. They are wonderful pens.

Hey Nikolaos, What you have is a Pilot Custom Super. I am not sure why, but in the 1980s Pilot created two pens under the Custom that were remakes of earlier 1950s pens. The Pilot Custom pens all have a distinct look to them, so I am not clear as why they would have included these remakes in with that line, but this is what the guys at Pilot tell me.

 

As earlier noted, these remakes (this Pilot Super 250 and the Pilot Super Ultra) looked very similar to the original pens, but they had different imprints and the remakes were CC fillers while the originals were switch fillers.

 

I asked several of the Piot guys about AGM and they told me that it was a new version of rolled gold, but they did not know what AGM actually meant.

 

In any case these are great pens and a lot of fun to write with. Congrats on a nice find.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
