Threatening to sue MB...

Bokkie

Recommended Posts

To recap my first MB experience, the lady I spoke to told me, that as a left-hander, there is no oblique nib available for left-handed use. I'm not sure what to do. Granted, it was often the case in 1850 onwards that left-handed people were considered evil and hence could be imprisoned, but I think now that we have crossed the threshold into the so-called enlightened 2008 that I, as a presumed 'criminal' should be given opportunity, in equal measure, to stand alongside my right-handed writing brethren. In short, is it truly the case that there are no MB oblique nibs for people like me?

I am tempted to persecute and prosecute MB to the maximum extent awarded by civilised law for practicing such heinous discrimination. Humbug on you MB, humbug! :-)

Bokkie,

Not sure whether this is meant as a humorous post, but in case it is serious:

Most pen manufacturers don't offer oblique nibs for left-handed use, so this is not a Montblanc issue. People who need a left hand oblique get their nibs altered by a specialist, such as Richard Binder or John Mottishaw.

Bokkie,

You may need a good lawyer, because I think MB has oblique nibs and even offer nib replacement service. Look here. There is OM, OB en OBB. Or are you perhaps looking for a right footed oblique nib ?

Filling a fountain pen is much more fun than changing a printer cartridge

So we can't be discriminated on the basis of our race, creed, colour or religion but discriminating against a leftie is OK......... ?

Its like driving on the wrong side of the road, some people do it ok (England, Indian subcontinent, the far east) but it is not right lol

(joking :) )

Its not discrimination, however, its what is available.. I mean just as much as how high couture/designer houses their clothing sizes usually run from small to medium no XL.. I do not think they are discriminating against heavier people but they just see their design suited on fitted bodies? How offensive! lol

Actually, the right side of the road is the wrong side: the left side is the right side. People who drive on the right, I mean wrong, side could not draw their sword to protect their lady if faced with a highwayman. Unless, like me, you were left-handed, in which case the right side, ie the left side, now becomes the wrong side on which to ride. But was Bonaparte left-handed? He determined that France would not rise on the "English" side, as I understand.

All clear?

Actually, it is a little more complex than that. India drives on the left, as does Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, but China, Vietnam, Cambodia, etc. drives on the right. Hong Kong and Macau drive on the left. It makes for some interesting border crossings.

So if you have a lot of ink,

You should get a Yink, I think.

T'were a humourous post. I'm not sure what % of the population is like me left-handed (kak-handed) but, yup, there's only a limited market for the 'sinister' group.

As a fat,left-handed person with poor driving ability I take offence at this whole thread. Expect summons from my lawyers for the emotional distress you have caused.

Stop being a baby and grow up you chubby left-handed twit! Hang on, that's me I just described. Seems there's more of us out there than we first thought.

Sometimes problems like this can result in a better outcome. I have had pens with malfunctions of one sort or another that went off to a nibmeister instead of back to the factory. Bad nibs that would have been repaired to adequate nibs were instead made into superior nibs.

I cannot agree, Chris. A right-handed sword-wielding driver would have to drive a vehicle with the steering wheel on the left. He would have to position the scabbard to the left side of the driver's seat. Me, I've always found that a .357 in a cross-draw holster was a much more effective deterrent against highwayman. Regardless of which side of the street you drive on.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
