Hi, I am new to the forum and I need help identifying some Parker pens. The first was bought as a set. The Parker vacuum filler made in usa is how it is marked with GEO S Parker made in usa Pat The pencil is marked Geo S. Parker made in usa Pat Golden Arrow. The nib is marked usa Parker and both have silver instead of gold that I have seen ... jewel on both ends of pen Pencil has jewel on end. Pen is 5" on this set!

I Also have a nice Parker vacumatic marker Geo. S Parker it has two jewels and is only 4 1/2" long Any information on identifying these would be appreciated. I have not a clue of the age or what they are worth.

Any help will be appreciated.

Kathie

Nice stuff, with some issues, but still nice stuff.

Are you sure the red pen is not about 4 5/8 long rather than just 4 1/2?

At first glance, albeit with no visual context to provide exact size clues, it appears to be a Vacumatic Slender, a first generation pen in Burgundy celluloid, produced late 1933 to 1938 (or so). Value of course varies with venue, condition, etc. Putting aside that any pen can be beaten nigh unto worthlessness, taking a spread range from VG on up to Exc+, recognizing the cost (and some risk) in restoration and factoring in restored/unrestored, considering wholesale-retail spreads, figure value $40-200 range.

----

An incidental observation or two.

The white nibs with gold arrows are not silver. They are alloy gold with a white metal (Platinum, per Parker) mask to give the two tone effect.

Also, the Silver Pearl pair (Vacuum Filler Pen and GOlden Arrow Pencil) have replacement clips, taken from a 1939+ Vacumatic Maxima for the pen and (perhaps) a Parker 51 pen for the pencil (hafta check if that would fit).

----

As to the Silver Pearl Pair (Vacuum Filler Pen and Golden Arrow Pencil)

The pen (if marked Vacuum Filler) is a Parker Vacuum-Filler, predecessor to Vacumatic, in silver pearl plastic. Model is Senior but really pen is same size as later Standard Vacumatic. Looks heavily worn trim , though in this case cap replacements can be had. Date to 1932-1933. The GOlden Arrow Pencil again with wrong clip is predecessor to Vacuum Filler. An uncommon pencil. Range on these is huge, given some of the issues suggested in picture. Anywhere for pen from $50 parts up to few hundred for a superb pen retail.

That said, if the Vacuum Filler is salvageable (particularly, clean barrel assembly even if cap is so-so) i mite have some interest ;) Same for pencil.

Thanks so much for all the information. My husband actually bought these at an auction. You are right the red one is 4 5/8" This one looks to be in better condition as far as just looking at it as it clearer in color and smooth to the touch.

It has a name on it ELSIE Large, and is slender compared to the vacuum filler.. The Silver Pearl pair also has a name on the pen, Frank Nardin. The pencil has Frank on it... We are going to sell all three. I guess on E-bay. If you or anyone else is interested just let me know. Except I really don't know what to ask to be honest so that is why I thought I would just put them on e-bay and see what happens.

I really appreciate all of your help.

Thanks, Kathie

Whatever works by you. Drop me a note if you want at my email isaacson@frontiernet.net or send PM via FPN's mail system if you know how to use that. We can chat more about sales. We could arrange to inspect. I probably could buy all three or make more detailed suggestions.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
