Dear Hoarder, I obtained a sterling silver ballpoint pen of 1970's vintage engraved, " Tiffany and Co, Sterling Silver". The pen appears identical to one made my Anson Pen Co, including the engraving " Hardened Steel" on the clip. I don't know if my pen is a fake or if it was made by Anson for Tiffany. Tgart7777

As I recall from my youth (too many years ago to count...), Anson was a company that sold a lot of mens' accessory items like cufflinks, tie bars, money clips and the like. Can't say as to quality, but I'm pretty sure I've got a couple of their cufflink sets in a box upstairs.

As to the question about the pen, my guess is that it probably came from a gift set back in the day. I don't think Anson was ever in the business of manufacturing writing instruments, but putting a pen in a giftset would make a lot of sense given their business model.

Hope this helps you.

Here the answer to whether Anson made pens or not. A picture is worth a thousand words.

My question is if the refills are available or not. I never ever use ball pens unless I have to, but I would like my pens in working order at all times.

Thanks.

Enjoy your pens

Have a nice day

Your photo quite clearly shows that Anson sold pens under their own name that were manufactured in the USA. How much this demonstrates whether Anson actually manufactured the pens sold under that name is another matter. I still think the pens were made by another company to be sold under the Anson brand. Just looking at the design, my guess would be that this is a Cross-like design (in no way suggesting that Cross did the work) that might (I'm just guessing here) utilize a Cross refill.

Hope this helps you find your refill.

Yes and no.

You arre right the shape and balance are akn to cross, except that the top is flat instead of tapering, and the mechanis is quite similar too (twist, for both the BP and MP), in fact with your eyes closed you will not be able to discern the difference even if youn are a cross fan. Unfortunately the refill is another story altogether, the threads are on the INSIDE of the cap at the top of the refill not outside as in cross. It is rather unique.

And I agree with you it may have been custom made for the ANSON company or built by them. My pens are engraved with the name of "Kuwaiti Dairy Products", the BP in English and the MP in Arabic.

Enjoy your pens

I realize this thread is really old, but it was the only hit on my search for Anson. I have an old Anson USA ballpoint and thought I'd add my information and photos to the thread in case anyone else searches for the same.

I acquired my pen in 1984, but it may date earlier, as I found it. It has a script "A" on the clip and the imprint reads: ANSON U.S.A (first line) and 10K OVERLAY (second line).

Cap is flat and the pen twists to engage and retract the ballpoint. The top pulls off and the refills screw in. I'm currently using a Cross 8514, fine 0515P refill. It's a very solid and slightly heavy pen.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
