If you had to choose one, Papermate or BIC pen?

I'd easily take a papermate. Actually, they're not bad at all. BICs on the other hand.... :bonk:

Sailor with King Eagle nib. (Sailor is owned by BIC, so technicaly it would be BIC.)

Hi,

Where did you get that information?

Pointers?

Bic owns Sheaffer.

it may sound silly but i do not like papermate ball pens because of their shape i find it uncomfortable. i prefer a bic pen to a papermate.

given a choice however i have not used either in years. :o

all the best :D ,

If I have to use a ball-point, let it be a Waterman - Or a Pelikan. I keep a K600 as a backup pen, for truly extreme conditions.

So if you have a lot of ink,

You should get a Yink, I think.

I think a Papermate over a Bic.

When I must write with a ballpoint, I choose to use a Parker Duofold BP or a Parker Jotter, both with B points. I also have a Fisher 20-year BP with a lovely B point that I use for telephone messages.

I do use Bic BP's - when I am at a bar, tanked up, and I have to sign the charge card bill in order to be able to exit the establishment. Then I use a Bic.

Papermate! Their pens always write better than a bic anyday.

I can assure you that Sailor is NOT owned by BIC, my friend.

You have them confused with Sheaffer which IS a division of BIC USA.

Bic Stic soft grip. More comfortable than a Papermate.

The Papermate Write Bros pens (remember them?) and their no-name successors were always the pens your office bought because they were too cheap to buy Bics.

When I can't use a fountain pen, and there are some situations that call for the pressure of a BP or an RB, I prefer to use the Pilot Precise rollerball.

For the most part, I don't like ballpoints, although I'll make exceptions for the Rotring Multipen and Parker Jotter.

First, about the FP ;) : Are there any fountain pens that don't take damage from the pressure required for "NCR paper" or older-tech carbon-paper copies? A fully hooded, steel nib model perhaps (Parker steel and hooded, Hero or Wing Sung)?

I prefer rollerballs or gel ball pens for NCR paper and carbon copies, but I hate their high prices  , especially for gel pens and their near-whole-pen-cost refills!

If I have to buy one for myself, I buy a Sanford Vision ("Sanford Eye" in some countries) because the price is not top-of-the-range, the ink supply is large, and the ink is waterproof and even advertised as fraudproof.

For viscous ink ballpoints (first type of ballpoint technology), I tolerate Papermate products only. BIC's and Parker's viscous ballpoints take too much pressure, have fainter inks and almost always leave an un-inked ball track down the middle of the mark. :(

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
