Quality pen wrap

Well, I've decided a pen wrap may be in my future. Since y'all know a little more about this stuff than I, I'll ask your opinions. Oh, and I'll say it now...my wife and I aren't great at sewing, so I'm looking for a commercially available case.

I really, really like the Libelle wrap that Sam is selling, but I can't justify $50 for a 5-pen wrap at the moment. Is there another, comparable design in the 4-6 pen range for less?

Does anyone have any experience with the $12, 10-pen wrap from Pendemonium? It looks like a nice basic roll for work. I'd still like a nicer case such as the Libelle for other times, but this might be a nice knockaround wrap, too.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

Here's a link to some more pen wraps: http://hisnibs.com/pen_rolls.htm (no affiliation, just a happy customer!)

I got two of the super-cheap $5 six-pen felt wraps (shipped for something under $2, I think). They're nothing fancy, but they work pretty well for day-to-day use (I'm not a pen connoisseur, mind you). I have Sensa Meridians and mechanical pencils in mine, and they fit fine. There are also other fancier ones for $20-25.

Hope that helps! :)

Inks currently in pens: Noodler's La Reine Mauve, Rachmaninov, Prime of the Commons Blue-Black, Naval Orange, MN Whaleman's Sepia, Verdun Green, Majestic Orange; J. Herbin Violette Pensée, Rose Cyclamen, Orange Indien

I'd also check out ISellPens. The Libelle wraps are worth the price.

Indeed. I ordered from isellpens for under $30. I wish I knew about them before, the prices are great.

Pendemonium's are great and so are the others mentioned. I have one or more of each.

One of the slots on my Libelle wrap tore out at the bottom within a week of purchase, so I will never buy another. Personally I love the Wilde Wraps by Elizabeth Wilde. They are fabric but surprisingly sturdy and also look nice.

What are these and where do you get them?

I'm a pretty strict vegetarian so I don't buy leather goods - most of these nice cases people talk about are not kosher for me.

I bought my Wilde Wrap through Pendomonium, but it was a while ago. The one I have uses a kimono fabric on the outside and a quilter's cotton on the inside. It's held up to me carting it about full of pens (six) for a couple of years now with little to no wear. It's a nice mini-ritual for me to sit down with my journal ready to write and unroll my pen wrap. Just deciding which pen puts me in the mood to write. :D

Even if you can sew just a little, it shouldn't be too hard to whip one up. A proto-type would probably help with figuring out the dimensions. (At a fabric store you can buy what are known as â€fat quarters“ (~18†x 22“), cotton prints that quilter's use, for very little money.)

Edited to add: Those garbage symbols are supposed to be inches. I have no idea how to make the double-quote marks I used for the inches symbol not turn into garbage. Any help?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
