Has anyone ever bought from Avalon Pens?

Hello everyone. I'm new here, and so I apologize if I am not posting in the correct forum. I am looking at places to buy fountain pens online, and I stumbled upon Avalon Pens. I am thinking of placing an order, but before I do I'd like to know if anyone has ever dealt with them.

Thanks!

Sure. Been to the B&M store lots of times, and have ordered online (not as often, because I only live an hour away and I just try to put my trips on the to-do list when I go to Indianapolis). Susan and Terry have steered me to some wonderful pens, and are full of great info. I can spend an hour in there without blinking an eye (and we won't discuss how much money I can spend). Most recent purchase was my Pelikan Piccadilly Circus, and a couple of bottle of Diamine ink (they don't show the ink online, or didn't the last time I checked, but they do have some). Susan also does some repairs, at least of vintage pens.

I'm in the Seattle area so I've never had the opportunity to go to their B&M store, but I've bought several pens from Avalon and been very satisfied every time.

I live 60 miles north of Zionsville adn have purchased there many times! Terry is a great guy and I would not hesitate to purchase again. On a side note he owns Private reserve ink!

Yes, I have purchased a dozen pens from them over the last eight or ten years. I always got a good deal and reasonable shipping time, jc

I, too, am fairly new and stumbled upon Avalon Pens online. My first thought was to see what the FPN had to say. And here are all of these great recommendations.

Thanks, everyone.

I ordered from them off line once and was very happy, they answered any questions for me and delivered fast. I'd buy from them again.

I've just finished my visit to Indianapolis and enjoyed visiting Avalon so much I actually went back to get more PR ink on the way to the airport.

Wonderful service, the widest selection of PR ink and cartridges I've seen, in both the small and long cartridge styles.

They are so pleasant, and it's a good sign if the kitty comes out and does a belly flop :)

Today's PR color purchases include:

Sepia

Naples Blue

American Blue

DC Supershow Green

Dakota Red

Tanzanite

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
