Is PenGallery.com legitimate?

I am looking to buy an 805 from PenGallery.com for $252.00. The price is much lower than any other seller I could find. Has anybody had a bad experience with this seller--or any experience at all?

Please, Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue about "who killed who."

I've only had excellent experiences with them. Reasonable flat fee for express shipping and good service.

I bought a Pelikan 400 in 2005 and just bought a Sailor 1911M from them.

Good service both times.

The 1911M did not have a cartridge with it. I emailed them and they sent me

three cartridges for my trouble.

I would order from them again, if Pam Braun at www.oscarbraunpens.com

does not have a better or close price. Now she is great!! Her service and speed are great.

The only drawback with her is a no return unless defective policy. So, know what

you want when you order from her.

Not only are they legitimate.... but they are WONDERFUL to do business with!

Seeing that I live in Kuala Lumpur, I have bought many pens from Pen Gallery - over the counter, of course. I have no doubt they are legitimate. They are one of the premier pen specialists here in Malaysia

My favourite pens:

Pelikan M200 Demo / translucent red / medium nibstroke

Lamy 2000 / black / oblique medium nibstroke

Pilot Vanishing Point / yellow / medium nibstroke

As already noted by other members, they are legitimate. Good prices (especially when they have sales) and they keep the items they sell online in stock. I ordered seven pens from them before the holidays. All arrived securely packed within the same week. Happy shopping!

Talking about fountain pens is like dancing about architecture.

I have been buying from them for some time now (recently ordered a Stipula). They are excellent in whatever they do . They answer all your queries patiently and their shipping via Fed Ex is excellent . You should ask for Mr. Lai , who is a very nice person to interact with.("Kim Hoong Lai" <lai@pengallery.com>

By chance , if any of your pens come with manufacturing fault , they replace it and the shipping is on their FedEx account .

All the very best wth your purchases.

regards,

Dev

I'm disappointed with Pen Gallery.

I ordered my 805 on February 28th. It's March 11th and they still haven't shipped my pen. They sent me an email on Friday in a response to my query; they said it was out of stock.

I think that if you're selling items that are out of stock it should be made very, very, clear before checkout.

My original post was intended to determine whether a site that offered pens as such low prices could be legitimate. My own experience is that they are a real business selling authentic pens.

More importantly, when there was a problem with my original order (manufacturer's defect) the pen was hurriedly (fedex) and apologetically replaced. I remain critical of pengallery's policy (whether stated or de facto) that allows backordered pens to be sold without forewarning. I understand that this is actually a common practice in many domestic pensellers as well. If concerned about the timeframe of delivery, contact pengallery in advance and inquire whether the pen is in stock (this is actually a good idea for any penseller).

Quibbles over back order sales aside, I was impressed with pengallery's customer service. I just bought another pen from them (a Pelikan 625 'red').

Give them a try.

I can highly recommend PenGallery.com.

I have purchased numerous items from this online store and have never been disappointed.

The owner (Lai) is honest, helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

Items are superbly packaged and shipment by DHL is always fast and reliable.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
