Does anyone here use pocket protectors? If I am going to start carrying my precious pens I think I will need to get one. Both to protect my pocket and my pens

Never used one nor had the need. I have carried one or two fountain pens on my shirt pocket every day for years with no ill effects to the pens or shirts.

I usually retire a shirt for reasons other than a worn out pocket ....... like ink-stains!

I do use a "pen sleeve" for each pen I carry. Either a Levenger Pen Parapet (two-fer) in my briefcase, or one of these simple silk-lined leather sleeves in my blazer or overcoat pocket. I don't think I'd like the idea of carrying either of those things in my front shirt pocket. Way too ... what did someone else call it? ... nerdy. :)

I have a pocket protector that I keep some colored pencils and BPS in. For FPs the nib is totally enclosed while pencils and BPs are open.

So I'd say don't bother if you want to protect your pens get a little case and carry that.

My understanding of the pocket protector was that it was more for ballpoints which were prone to leaks back in their infancy. In any case, I use one to protect the lining of my blazer from the clips, not ink leaks. The parker arrow clips have shredded some of my jackets' inner linings.

I used one of the clear ones to line my leather pocket pen case after a leak stained the case, me and yes.. my shirt. I just cut the first 2-3 inches (aprox.) off the top so it would not show above the leather and slid it in to the pocket case. No more leak worries.

I find that when I carry 2 pens in my shirt pocket they scratch each other. I haven't found a way to prevent it, so I have to limit myself to 1 pen each day.

I used a pocket protector in college for a while (more for irony than function). Truth is, I have to agree that you'd do better to just get a case and carry your pens in that.

Erm...what's a pocket protector?

Various and sundry examples can be found here, cool collection..........if pocket protectors could be cool.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
