Are Waterman's and Waterman the same company?

I just bought an excellent pen from another member on this board (you can see it here. The brand name on the pen says "Waterman's", and it also states that it is made in Canada. Is that the same company which makes the Waterman Phileas, Hemisphere etc, or are they different companies?

 

Regardless of that, the pen is an excellent writer, and I am really happy that I was able to get it. Getting the package in the mail just turned a good day into a great one.

L.E. Waterman or Watermans did have a branch in Canada - in fact it's rumored that the flexiest Waterman nibs were made in Canada.

If you limit the scope of the question to Waterman, pre-1980's, pens imprinted with "Waterman" and "Waterman's" are from the same company.

I don't have the details handy, but in the (I think) 1980's, Waterman stopped being a US company and was merged into/ bought by Waterman interests in France.

So, pens made in the last 25 or so years are less related to pens like yours from the 1950s (and earlier.)

 

Sheaffer did something similar with the imprints on their pens. There are pens with a Sheaffer clip imprint and others with a Sheaffer's imprint. That did not have anything to do with company ownership, AFAIK.
