I have just gotten a Osama FP from a seller on ebay. I have not been able to find anything about the manufacture or country of origin. I feel that it may come from one of the Asian makers, but I could be wrong. Can any one on the forum assist me ? Thanks

I was also thinking at Osama like an asiatic company, but (incredibly) it's italian, in Milano.

Born in 1967. Osama, which means “king” in Japanese, is founded as a trading company with the challenging objective of promoting the sale of school and office products in Italy. The company begins to operate in the sector, confirming itself as the exclusive importer and distributor of one of the major Japanese brand names for writing instruments: Mitsubishi Pencil. Within a few years, it leads the sector.

For other informations see:

Osama Company

I've also found on ebay a beautiful ballpoint; they tell me it's name is Hoogan Pen, and it's no more in production.

Hi there, FP collectors!

I'm not really a collector of FP's but I have this really cool Osama F-1 fountain pen that my father gave me as a gift 20+ yrs ago. I don't know from what material it is made; body and cap. I think it's made of stone or something. I may be wrong, it might be a hard plastic. I also doubt that the metal on the cap and the nib are made of gold.

I have attached a quite OK picture I just took to show you. I hope I can get an answer since I've been searching the net (and I have found this and the link above the discussion).

Cheers! I browsed some of the topics containing pictures of your lovely FP's. I'm so jealouse you have all your wonderful collections that I wish I'm also be having. :D

Welcome on FPN!

Osama Formula 1 was born at the end of the '80s, and seems to be a discontinued model. Made in carbon fiber; clip and rings should be gold plated, as for the nib.

That's all I know! If you need more details, you can contact directly Osama factory (in Milan, Italy) throug this webpage:

I would add that Osama started as a distributor for some large Japanese stationery company and still have a strong link with Japanese products.

For instance it is the only Italian producer to have a Maki-E in catalogue! And it should be not expensive since it has a GP nib...

I see that over a thousand people have viewed this topic.

Maybe they thought that it would cover bin Laden's personal fountain pen?

:D

The sword is mightier than the pen. However, swords are now obsolete whereas pens are not.

Unless maybe the OMAS Miku counts as Maki-E?

weird they didn't change their name

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

And what about the Japanese: should they remove that word from the vocabulary?

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
