Jacques Herbin Orange Indien

Ink Review # 243

---

🧾 Description

Ink: Orange Indien (Indian Orange)

Brand: Jacques Herbin

Country: France

As of this date all Les Perles des Encres, J Herbin inks are marketed as Jacques Herbin.

This is a bright reddish orange, with subtle shading. It doesn’t like copy paper and will bleed through it, but it has very decent water resistance. Dry times can be from short to long depending on the wetness of the pen, nib size and paper.

Cleaning was surprisingly easy.

Overall, I was happily surprised by the ink’s decent behaviour and colour, even though orange ain’t my colour.

✍️ Writing Samples (Photos LED and daylight)

- Pens Used: Pilot Kakuno EF, Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ stub 1.1), Vintage Sailor flex.

Translations from language are provided for reference only and may differ from published versions.

Note:  My vintage unknown Sailor is very temperamental. So, I had to dip it in the ink, hence the bright reddish colour.

 💬 Closing

This is a bright reddish orange with decent lubrication. If you’re hesitant about orange, this ink could be a good introduction.

No fountain pens were harmed in preparing this review. ;)

Please don’t hesitate to share your experience, writing samples, or any other comments — the more the merrier. :)

Orange inks are for me, though I only have a couple, and most are samples.

But I do have this ink… an elderly bottle with color a far cry from this intense hue.  Uninteresting chroma, but ink appears to have a degree of water resistance.

Love:  Artwork, quotes.  And of course, @yazeh, your review.  Many many thanks!   👏🏻 🖌 😸

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Great review, @yazeh!  I do like me a nice bright orange, though probably only in small doses.  This one also shades and is easy to clean, so what's not to love? :D

That's one very bright set of swatches!!  Love kitty and mousey riding on the baby elephant. :D

Sniff is my favorite! Happy kitty look, charming bespectacled mousey with an over-size bow tie - it's just too sweet! :)

Tigers should not have to jump through flaming hoops! (Nor should I! ;) )

Love "Where's That Darn Cat!" :D  I leaned not that long ago that at least some of the animals that share the jungle with the tiger see said tiger as green, not orange! :yikes: Who woulda thunk it!  No wonder Mousey is having a hard time finding Kitty. :D

Thanks for sharing all the hard work and fun drawings.  I'm beginning to wonder if you ever sleep! ;)

We should remedy that. ;)

Sorry to hear that. Maybe the dye has "paled" over the years. Elderly bottle. 👍

I didn't know that. Though it possible that Mouse is thinking of a literal cat and not a big feline. ;)

I stagger these overtime and now I can take a breather and go more in depth in my reviews hopefully. As long as I enjoy it, I'll continue. :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
