Do you know someone who Doesn't have a Montblanc?

I don't know a single person that writes anymore, let alone has a fountain pen, and certainly not a Montblanc.

I really don't know where this magical land is where everyone has a 149.

I love Janis, but my wife cannot stand her voice. She also can't stand Robert Plant's voice. Two of my favorites.

My top pens

1. Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age

2. Onoto Faraday

3. Onoto Magna Ebonite

4-9. My Pelikans ( three 800s, two 805s, one 809)

@NoType -- That is HILARIOUS!  Love it!

I was ear-worming Janis Joplin as well as other people, but also thinking back to the time a few years ago I talked my husband into going out to Cleveland, Ohio to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- and getting a photo of her old car, which had been tracked down after it was repainted and sold by IIRC her lawyer at the behest of her family after she died -- and the thing I thought was the best part?  Even more than it was painted AGAIN to like it did when she owned it?  That her car was a PORSCHE! :D

I just laughed and laughed when I saw her car on display in the main gallery at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame when we went there....

Might still have the photo I downloaded to my laptop from my phone....

Not only do I not own any Montblanc pens, I've known of only person who has one (a former colleague). Montblanc has created a deeply negative connotation for me, to the point where without the support of other fountain pen enthusiasts who don't have Montblancs I'd likely feel unworthy to even think about fountain pens.

when asked if i have a Visconti, i would say no

i wouldn't for a picosecond feel the urge to attach a denunciation of Visconti, or deliver a Hot Take (from jealousy i guess...)

what, the owners of a Visconti think they are better than me??????

odd all this...

It really is. Underneath it all, the point of fountain pen use is customization. Form factor, filling system, nib width, ink color and other characteristics, it’s all about what appeals to the user or collector. If it’s a Meisterstück, so be it. If it’s a $1 pen with a folded nib, that’s cool too. No brand makes one an inferior or superior pen user. If it really makes someone feel that way, they need to look within.

I don't think Visconti owners do this. Not sure many Montblanc owners do this either, but the rarity of those pens combined with their prices has created that impression for me (or at least I've always been intimidated by Montblanc owners who don't have other pens).

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
