Montblanc Inkwell and pen stand 1983 - 1989

Dear Forum,

If I may briefly introduce myself:

My name is Kay Thomas and I come from North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

My grandmother came from Hamburg, where Montblanc is manufactured. The family also wrote with Montblanc fountain pens.

I am very happy to be accepted here in the forum.

Regarding my writing instruments:

I really enjoy writing with a 146 with an OBB nib. I love this nib.

A Montblanc 149 with a M nib.

A truly magnificent fountain pen. And a 161 ballpoint pen.

Now I have a question.

I just bought a pen stand and an Inkwell from EBay

19100 Inkwell Set

19149 Fountain Pen Stand

The production period was probably from approximately 1983 to 1989.

Is there a price list showing how much the two items cost?

Thank you very much and best regards.

Kay Thomas

Hi @Kay Thomas, and welcome to the Montblanc subforum, a place plenty of pages to use and peruse for passionates of the brand.

I could not find trusty information about the specific models of pen stand and inkwell set you are referring to.

However, if this can serve you as a guide, in 2013 the official price for the 149 pen stand (in led crystal and resin, ref. 13924) was 325.00 Euros, and the inkwell (ref. 13921) was equally priced at 325.00 Euros. This sum has the equivalent purchasing power of approximately €440 today.

Since these exact products have not been in production for long time, their price in the second hand market - and particularly for NOS products- is today about double the original price of 2013.

I forgot to mention that Montblanc still has a pen stand for its 149 in its catalog (once again very different from the previous ones), with reference no. 111470. Just for comparison purposes, the current model has a list price of 480.

Does anyone know when MB changed the threads on the 149 pen cap?  I know some of the earlier desk stands have a different threading.

Dear Forum,

Thank you so much for your help and suggestions.

Does nobody really have an old price list to help determine the exact price of this item?

Thanks and best regards, Kay Thomas
