Some quick notes about the Asvine P20 1.1mm stub

Last week I ordered an Asvine P20 with the new 1.1mm stub, and to my surprise it already arrived yesterday. The Asvine P20 was not new to me, but the Asvine stub nib is.

I have used the pen for notes taking today, and I am impressed. This is easily one of the smoothest stub nibs that I have tried so far (ranging from JoWo to Kanwrite to Parker and Waterman nibs).

Most importantly, the pen writes effortlessly and still delivers some nice line variation on paper. Overall, this pen is a pleasure to use! (I am still not a fan of the gaudy cap band).

Neat! Asvine produced a 1.1mm stub for their new #8 nib on the C80 & C2000, but it’s news to me they did it for the #6/#35 nibs, welcome news!

My understanding is that Norm Haase, formerly of hisnibs.com, consulted on the stub design.

Hi @Dan Carmell ,

I believe Norman Haase had a hand in both the #8 and #6 size stubs indeed. He also has a few YouTube videos about them on his channel.

I haven’t tried the #8 stub (I usually am not a fan of large nibs), but I am very satisfied with this #6 size one.

The Asvines with #6 stubs appear to be limited to P20, 30 & 36, and V126.

And none available yet as a nib unit only, at least I couldn’t find any.

I assume they would be very popular (maybe less so in Asian countries) but maybe Asvine currently has limited production capacity, or they prefer to sell them with whole pens for now?

My guess is the latter but eventually you’ll see them, maybe on Amazon first, since (like you point out) they are probably aimed more at Western users. Much like how Asvine introduces pens on Amazon first now.

I’ll be searching for a stub in the P20 and V126. I have them both and one in the exact blue. Really very much enjoying it. I’m new to Asvine and I’m very impressed. What’s not to love on that P20.

Thank you for sharing this. I had looked at an Asvine pen with the stub nib. Nice to see a writing sample.

Quite true Dan. There were a lot of nibs flying back and forth from China to Allentown. ☺️

I've repeatedly suggested to Britumn Li, Asvine's owner, that he make the stub nibs available separately for sale -- even before we settled on the final design. He's yet to take me up on that suggestion. I know that a lot of my customers would love to have them available for swapping on other Asvine -- or other brands -- of pen.

I'll keep trying!

Norman

Thanks Norman! As you know, in the meantime I did try the V800. While the stub nib is equally good, the pen as a whole is a bit too large for me.

My ideal Asvine combo is probably a V126 with the #6 stub nib.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
