Hello World,

Thought I'd ask for some advice on my handwriting. It's in a place I'm pretty happy with, but of course it could always be better. I write in 3 distinct styles, the first is for general writing and is a hybrid of the cursive I learnt as a child, and print.

The second is a style I randomly developped by trying to write only with straigth strokes.

And the third I 'acquired'  from the website mountainofink.com, with some modifications of course.

 

Oh, and I used a medium, fine, and bold nib respectively. I find each be the most adapted for these styles, but I can use the first one with all sizes, and the second with both fines an mediums. I have no extra fine so I couldn't tell you, but I expect it would work just as well for 1 & 2.

 

 

I would love to hear your thoughts on legibility and aesthetics for each of these, but also 'vibe', if that makes sense? What impression do you get from these samples? How do you imagine the person writing them? Are they old? Young? Male, or female? An artist, or a scientist? Blue or white collar? And whatever else comes to mind.

Your handwriting looks like that of a young person, perhaps try for something interesting with a little more flair and dynamism.

 

Must admit, your writing is neat and controlled.

 

You have three styles, perhaps try for a fourth and introduce the curve to your letters, especially long tailed lower case letters, also try for some line variation, especially with e o c q s u a.

Well, in my defense, I am quite young  . You're right though, they can be a little boring, I am trying to improve my capital letters to make them more interesting, but I don't think I'll change my lowercase style for now. I do plan on relearning cursive at some point though. 

 

As for long descenders, I am not a fan. I used to have them quite long, but found it a bit unpleasant. As for being neat and controlled - thank you! That's what I'm aiming for with the first two styles especially, something almost 'robotic' if that makes sense. Of course, I also like more flowery handwriting, but only when other people do it
