InkFlash - Lamy Dark Lilac

InkFlashes are short and quick presentations that show just enough detail to get a feel for the ink. A couple of years ago, @lgsoltek gifted me a bunch of samples to try out. This Lamy Dark Lilac was among them. It's been sitting in my ink stash for a while now, so I'm sure it's a sample of the original 2016 version of this ink.

Rhodia DotPad N° 16

A very saturated dark lilac - looks best in dry-writing pens or finer nibs, where you explore the left side of the saturation spectrum.

A look at the chromatography

Writing sample on papers good and bad

Written with Lamy Safari M-nib. The bleed-through test is done as follows: 1x, 2x and 3x fill of the squares from left to right, to get increasing saturation of the paper. Beware that on the reverse side, the most saturated square appears on the left. Dark Lilac clearly doesn't like lower-quality paper.

And finally a quick doodle

Love this ink flash, the format, and the lovely drawing.  Great job. You found your format.

As for the ink, let's not ruin the mood. ;)

Ink: Too dark.

Doodle: Glorious!

Variation on my dry time method: Love it!  Why on earth didn't I do it that way?

Thanks, @namrehsnoom!  I'm also loving these Ink Flashes!

I missed the first issue of that LE ink.

Lamy has its own shop down town in Heidelberg. My B&M didn't have that ink, neither did that Lamy shop and it was mid-summer.

So the next time the ink came out, I got some before it ran out.

One of my purple inks. I've used it some three times since getting it early this year.

Some folks say there is a difference between the original limited edition and the new one.

It's a nice purple ink. A bit too wet for me, in I like shading. :(

I was in too much of a hurry because of the tim-tim of the original issue, to look hard and see if this edition had shading.

This is wonderful as per usual @namrehsnoom! Could you do us the favor of mentioning that it is the first version of this coveted in the title? Should make it a little easier to differentiate when we are searching reviews years down the line.

This is one of those colors that got a way from me back in the day. I just missed the window to grab one, which I definitely would have as neon green sheen is one ink property I collect, and it is quite common in purple inks of this particular variety.

I'm glad I got two bottles of the original version when I had a chance.  Saw a swab of the re-issued stuff at IIRC OPS last year and didn't care for the red sheen I was seeing.

Looks like I'll be getting the new issue Petrol and Sepia............now that I know about them.

I was looking at a test of Sepia, and the first thing that came to mind how close it looked to Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Brown, which appears a tad livelier.
